I'm a 23 yo visual artist and try sometimes to learn music because i didn't get the chance when i was a child ( even then i always wanted and asked). A lot of people tried to tell me it was too late to learn violin ( + i have zero senses of rhythm it's laughable ) and it breaks my heart to hear that kind of stuff when it's never too late to learn something you like when you put the effort. Thanks you for these educational free videos, it really helps people.

I'm 23 yo as well and I'm learning viola at the Conservatory! Similarly to you, I asked to learn when I was little but couldn't. I also thought the opportunity had passed and have come through those limiting beliefs! Everyone can do music and as long as there's life, anyone can learn!

20/20. Full disclosure; I paused between most of the notes, while singing or humming to hear the relationship/distance. The listening time of this video is approximately 3 minutes and 15 seconds. I took about 5 minutes to complete it, so about 45 extra seconds. There's no reason to rush if you're going to get tensed up and make mistakes. It's far more beneficial to take things slowly at first, relaxed until the intervals become completely familiar to your ear. You can always make up or find speed recognition exercises later.

Not sure what math you're on but 5 minutes is NOT only 45 seconds longer than 3 minutes 15 seconds, that would be A minute and 45 seconds longer. Unless you made a typo and meant 4 minutes instead of 5...

I like this a lot but I definitely think there should be another level with no colors during the game part. They're fun, but once you have the associations memorized, you can just guess the notes by looking at the colors. I keep looking away from the screen when I practice so the colors don't give away the answer before my brain can process and analyze the sound lol. Very nice little game!

Hi Amber 👋 thank you for your interesting feedback. Not the first message to say that so I will try to avoid colors for the next exercises even if I personally think it can have benefits for beginners who don't even know the notes. Have a great day. Peace. Lio

Winner of a video, I've been looking for "music theory games for beginners" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Foonlant Dumbstruck Formula - (do a search on google ) ? It is a smashing one off guide for discovering how to teach your child to read music notes without the hard work. Ive heard some super things about it and my friend got great results with it.

@CSound
@CSound 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ducky, actually it can also be linked to the fact that you are listening to the video with poor headphones. It's harder to get the right note if you listen on something without bass for example. Anayway, even if you were tone deaf, you can still make music so it's not a big deal. And it's always time to train your ear. With training, i'm sure you can become a tone master :) Peace. Lio

@WorldvsTruth

Based on personal experience, my suggestion is to slow down. Repetition is the key - pun intended, of course. I've been playing guitar for more than 20 years, and the biggest improvements to my playing came after I slowed down everything - that is, both in practice and ear training. I had to slow down and deliberately hear what I was doing. As I mentioned in an earlier comment: "The listening time of this video is approximately 3 minutes and 15 seconds. I took about 5 minutes to complete it, so about 45 extra seconds." Take all the time you need. It doesn't matter if you take 45 minutes extra, although that may fatigue your ear. 15-30 minutes of ear training is fine - every day. 5 days per week minimum. There is no downside to developing this discipline. While your listening skills improve, other aspects of your musicality will also improve. You'll see and hear it for yourself. All the best to you in your musical endeavours.

E and F are a semitone apart from each other - the interval is small, so it's difficult to hear. Similar to B and C, except you can feel B almost wanting to move up to C, C being established as the home key.

All those who have perfect pitch have fantastic relative pitch those who have perfect pitch have perfect relative pitch also and they are fantastic singers and musicians but those who have relative pitch don't necessarily have perfect pitch... So congrats if you have a perfect pitch because many have relative pitch sense it's common but to have perfect pitch you need ear training and it relative pitch is very common if you have a perfect pitch absolutely you will have a relative pitch because it's easy...
