Well done! I love having this done. Every six months and I giggle through the entire process as if I’m being tickled! My daughter will usually come with me and sit on me holding my head steady while I laugh myself silly. If she can’t, the nurse does it but she’s usually laughing with me. We’re mental 😂

I hope the following clarifies a few misconceptions about ears and cotton buds. For approximately 85% of the global population their ears "self clean" as they should so there is no wax/skin build up. You are one of those people. All you're doing is cleaning surface wax which the ears need to protect themselves. It's only due to luck that you have never had an infection. Cotton buds are not meant to be used in the ear. You only need to clean the outer part of your ear, the pinna. The remaining 15% aren't so fortunate and do have wax/skin build up because their ears simply do not self clean/expel the wax and skin build up for myriad reasons or they have damage to their ears which interferes with natural migration. Greetings DR. J, I saw you and your wonderful family on deer meat for dinner and I thought I'd reach out to you. I was diagnosed with patulous eustachian tube dysfunction several years ago and it has only gotten worse since then. It has gotten to the point where it's negatively effecting my mental health. Hello Jeremy! That is a difficult diagnosis to treat. I would recommend a second opinion and if they also say the same diagnosis then I would look for someone who treats it. I don't know how people let that much wax build up. Doesn't that take a long time to occur? Are they not cleaning their ear canals at all? I get wax in my ear canal, but I have never got even close to that much. Is this a health condition that causes this?

They’re afraid to clean their ears. They believe everything people tell them about not putting things in their ears to clean them. Kinda like don’t pop your pimples, they’ll get infected. Well BOO, the pimple itself is an infection, pop that sucker and get rid of it.

@@LilPoopsieWrong. I am an audiologist and see it all the time. As you place the qtip in your ear, some of the wax gets pushed further into the canal while a small amount comes out. When I look in someone’s ear canal, I can see wax pushed deep into the canal and I can also see some of the fuzz from the Qtip. It’s also dangerous, because you can inadvertently burst your ear drum. The best way is to soften the wax with an over-the-counter wax softener and suction it out with a bulb syringe. The Ear Nose & Throst doctor or an audiologist are the best at removing was safely. Water irrigation can be dangerous too as the ear drum can be burst from the pressure.

I was wondering if she ever heard out of her ear before? For as long as I can remember I have never heard out of my left ear. Over the years when I have visited with an ENT they look in my ears for two seconds and say “clean ears”. Okay I’ve never had my ears professionally cleaned and wondered if my situation could possibly be like hers? I believe I would scream as well if sound came flooding in after never hearing before. I can feel vibrations when in a higher than normal sound area. Does that possibly mean I “could” hear out of it? I can’t tell from which direction a sound comes from and the amount of ridicule I receive about it.

I walked into a house one time, and saw a 90 something year old lady, laying on a couch with a white cone sticking out of her ear. It was just slightly smoking on the top. She was super chill, having this thing in her ear, so I watched as it "vacuumed" all this garbage out of her ear. Haven't seen anyone do it since, but it cleaned out her ear, and she could hear again. It was a lot of crud!! Anyone ever seen this?

I use qtips almost every day and I actually got to watching videos like these so I scheduled an appointment to have ear wax taken out - and there wasn't any lol. I was so disappointed! I mean, I was happy as well of course but still, I wanted CHUNKS of wax coming out of me and alas, there was none.
