Nice comparison! I just got an Uboom L, and I was a bit disappointed first. Some time ago I had a B&O Beoplay A1 (1st. gen.), and I wasn't expecting it to match this expensive speaker, but I was definitely expecting better than it was. But then I found that it was using firmware version 0.5.0 (check it by pressing power and bluetooth button simultaneously). So I flashed firmware 0.4.8 (was default in 2022), and the sound improved so much! So compared to 0.5.0, with 0.4.8, you'll get: - more volume steps at lower volumes, less at higher volumes (so for the same loudness you'd have to boost more, but you can turn the volume down much better, e. g. for bedtime listening) - more natural bass (less lower bass, more upper bass) - way more natural mids, clearer vocals (0.5.0 has a tilt so upper mids are louder than lower mids) - way more sparkle in the treble (yep, what you mentioned, now on par with or maybe better than the Flip 6) - outdoor mode now boosts the bass and the treble, to improve outdoor sound, not battery life - haven't tested at louder volumes, but tests show that 0.4.8 is way punchier at louder volumes So you should really test the firmware version 0.4.8, it was created by Oluv and he links it here: www.patreon.com/posts/earfun-uboom-l-68681771. You'll need Windows to flash it. You can always go back to the default 0.5.0, it's also there. With the stock firmware, I wouldn't have kept it and ordered a Beosound A1 instead, which would have hurt quite a bit at 3x the price. But now I'll keep the Uboom L.

Would you prefer uboom l over flip 6, or even charge 5?
@VeitLehmann Жыл бұрын
@@bamboo9666 I prefer the Uboom over both, I don't need the power of the Charge 5, the Uboom gets loud enough for me. But it also can play very quietly, at least after firmware change, and that's also important for me. But in the first place, with the alternative firmware, it just sounds awesome, far better than any other speaker in this price range! But I didn't do a direct comparison by myself, just saw a bunch of comparison demo videos and listened to different speakers individually.

Love ur reviews man. Keep up the great work. I think the JBL flip does sound a tad bit better than the Uboom but not by much IMO. The uboom is a great buy. U won't find a better speaker at a lower price. I will definitely have to grab one.

JBL speakers have a peculiar sound, thumping bass and metallic high. Maybe advantageous in open space. Some people like it some don't and some indifferent. I don’t like it so I just ordered the Earfun and save some money at the same time for a good small speaker I was looking for.

I’m not in the market for a bluetooth speaker, but it definitely sounded pretty good. Sounded more “alive” than the JBL speaker.

I just got the UboomL, came with 050, was good but decided to downgrade cos of all the talk online about how good Oluv's tuning is. Could only find the 048, mehn I must say, the best thing I ever did for my ears. It sounds crisp just as the flip6 with a little more bass and open sound. Just wow. I see that the 043, 045, 048 are basically the same soundwise. 048 is just bug fixes.

The uboom weighs over two pounds. The flip weighs a pound and fits easily into most bags. I’m not saying it’s an unfair comparison but what I’m hearing is that the flip6 carries its weight given its stature.

@oluv's gadgets unfortunately the Uboom L weights more like 740 grams in real life. The manufacturer's statement is false. Try weighting one of yours, Oluv! It is actually a common phenomenon among speakers - the stated weight is different than the actual one. For example, a Soundcore Motion Boom weights 1545 g while the declared weight is 4.41 lb (about 2000 g).
