This is based on Gene Ammons' "Blue Greens and Beans" on his Blue Gene album (1958). It's so familiar but I needed someone to remind me. Now I'll be that someone.

I've been aware of Earl Hooker my whole life but never really heard him. This is swinging good stuff.

The harp player was the late Jeff Karp, a gifted young player out of Chicago who recorded and played with Hooker quite a bit. Not many white harp players could cut it with Hooker because he was such a great jazz/blues player--Karp could. Probably 'Moose' Walker on Organ.

Earl was playing blues/rock and roll straight up until he caught ole' Roy Buchanan's Telecaster magic at the Olympia Theater. Here you have the result. Earl influenced a lot of players, and, in turn, was influenced by Roy and some of the funkier jazz players.
