One of my favorite Mardi Gras tunes next to the version of Big Chief with Sheby Kimbrough on the drums.

Didn't know Earl King did funk. Did he go from blues to funk like Guitar Watson :)

+Zin C Hey. This is actually a traditional New Orleans 2nd Line beat. We don't really consider it "Funk," per se, but it is definitley funky. There are tons of great Second Line songs on youtube. Enjoy. :-)

Leisel Farrow the New Orleans second line was where funk was born James Brown ripped it off beautifully

Zilegil Exist a good research by scholar Alexander Stuart from Oxford called *"Funky Drummer: New Orleans and the Rhythmic Transformation of American Popular Music"* . THE NEW ORLEANS / JAMES BROWN LINK?= *Clayton Fillyau* 😉
