Absolutely resonate with dude. When I was in highschool my mom was taking care of 4 kids by herself and I grew up a skater, stoner and class flunker. My mom couldn't control me and she allowed the school's judicial system to take matters into their hands, was sent to a rehab hours away from home because I kept smoking bud on probation at 16. When I came back to school my girl had moved on and I was a laughing stock. Earl was probably my 2nd or 3rd favorite artist after Wayne and Cudi lol. I've been through some shit man, two mental hospitals on separate occasions for the mental breakdowns. I dunno why I'm typing all this shit. Dude just reminds me of a time when I was in a Terrible place but made it through. I'm a happy man these days and I'm glad he's still willing to do stuff like this interview. Man this dude. Always been a well behaved kid until I lost my dad at 13, kinda just went a little off the hook but nothing crazy. Age 16, literally the same day I started listening to Earls music, I got caught smoking weed and that instantly strained my relationship with my mom for a good while. Dropped out of college in 2016 and fell into depression but didn’t realize what was going on with me until I went back and listened to IDLSIDGO. I swear he was rapping how I was feeling word for word. It was surreal. Bro will always be in my top 3. He’s the only rapper who’s lyrics I can quote and still feel like it’s coming from the heart

Life can make you callous and disconnected, never forget how to love and give to people more than you take. Helping others is helping yourself 'ini', love isn't just romantic, soul mates can be friends and family too. Put love into the whole experience of life with gratitude and appreciation for the opportunity to give

Big W. When that first EARL mixtape dropped that shit had niggas in a chokehold, that was around the first time I started doing drugs and shit, like 13-14. Those OF days really impacted a lot of people deeply, I don’t think they realize the full extent of their influence on the youth for the better. Or maybe they do. But circa discovering OF were some of the best times of my life. First times I smoked bud, did acid, etc., Earl was playing in the background at some point. Going to see them at Hammerstein Ballroom, their first show together after he came back from Samoa with Frank there, shit was epic for me. Meeting Tyler in real life and standing in line overnight in front of Reed Space to give him Waffle Crisp is something I’ll never forget. Meeting Earl and awkwardly asking him for the hug while Syd and some other people stood next to him and lowkey laughed at how cringe I was being, even that, I cherish those memories (thanks for hugging a nigga Earl, I know shit was type fanned out but I was a lil nigga). Taco did a DJ set and played Waka Flocka Flame and the whole crowd went dumb. That time period from 2010-2015 was so important for me, a young kid from the Bronx into “alternative” shit with nobody that was into what I was into around me, KZbin was a portal into a different world and thankfully it brought me to OF. I could go on and on but long story short, massive W. Shoutout Odd Future, everything they accomplished, and thank you for inspiring.

Me as an underground artist with a small audience, Earl is the type of success story that inspires me.
