Did you see the new Traxxas high torque 600 series direct fit Xmaxx servos (2085R) that Traxxas just quietly released? Traxxas's website says it's 30% faster and 78% more torque than the 2085 servo. I can't believe they didn't put those in the ultimate. Traxxas releasing a new much faster and higher torque servo only like 2 weeks after boasting about the Ultimate having the good "upgraded metal servo" would kina bum me out if i bought an Ultimate. I had just bought a Perfect Pass Monster servo and had it sitting here waiting to install when I saw someone post a video on the 600 series. I guess I'll throw the perfect pass servo in my Trx4 crawler and order the 600 series for my xmaxx. The Trx4 needs a servo upgrade anyways...

@@jontoad an update Traxxas is sending me a new tire and spur gear since it broke a tooth on that self upright feature, talk about great customer service! But i will update to those belted tires in near future👍

I did the tin foil trick. Put three strips under the two Cush drive bearings and problem solved. Cush drive cover still bolts down nicely, and no change in the pinion and spur gear mesh. Cover the foil strips with grease or oil to help keep in place during assembly.

as a test i would recommend to do the same thing . Take the gear out of your xmaxx you drive alot and put in your ultimate and i would think it would do the same thing mine did. Become butter smooth with a broke in gear.

Earl. So i had same issues with a regular new xmaxx with transmission input gear to center drive gear. I have not heard of the aluminum foil trick the other guy mentioned but seems like a great option. I had mine apart and back together like 3 times. So i thought maybe a traxxas gear wasnt true to spec. So i ordered another input gear did the same thing. I had my buddy come over with his xmaxx thats older and i put his input gear on the back of shaft and then in my truck and it was butter smooth. I put my new gear on his cush drive shaft he put it in his truck then all of a sudden his was making same noise mine was gear mesh was too tight for 3,4 teeth. Then i saw some guy mention on my post i created on a facebook xmaxx site and he said thats the new tolerances and our meant to wear in. Which explains why my buddies gear that had probably 20 packs through it worked perfect in my truck. I kept my cover screwed tight and noise is becoming less the more i drive it. I suppose it is wearing in. I have kept an eye on temps and spur cover , motor, esc are just fine.

Idk if you having any issues with this but, I couldn't use any of my 4 tqi's with my max 6 combos. They won't calibrate throttle position for some reason. I have to use my flysky on them

I currently have an xrt ultimate and a sledge. My dumbass bought the sledge after owning the xrt ultimate and regret it. Pinion and spur break every time I take it out. I wish I just bought another xrt. lol. I like fast RCs that handle well and bash. I’m not sure of the max x is for me. But man, it looks nice!!! Does it take huge air bashing well?

@@earlmoorhead5555 I bought two smc 11300 batteries. On the instructions, it states to make sure the batteries are in balance. I have is the Traxxas ezpeak live dual charger. Am I able to check with this? Or do I need to purchase a balance checker? If so, you have one that you recommend? Instructions also state to not discharge them below a certain voltage. So I’ll be able to check voltage with the balance checker device right?

Yes create high resistance to the esc and I’ve seen Esc failure do to this issue that’s why traxxas and castle won’t warranty any connectors issues

Earl, your issue here with the gears are Traxxas gears. They suck simple as that. What you need is tekno pinion and HR spur.

Lots of people seem to have issues with Traxxas gears, in a couple years I have only ruined one spur and one pinion....so needless to say I buy Traxxas gears if I need to make any changes....but I kind of stick with what I got..

If use traxxas batteries with factory esc , I’ve seen people get years with no problems with anything including the upgraded traxxas spur , all depends how much and how hard you drive it , I still use plastic on the maxx , I’ve been through a few but they’re quite easy on drive train and cost 3 bucks , I abuse that truck so by time spur gear ⚙️ goes I can do maintenance. We’ve had bad costal flooding my yard a mess , the maxx handles it well but water getting in my receiver box , traxxas was always good with that

If you want air control!! Why don't you fly helicopters or planes?? Just enjoy the truck..... at the end of the day, it is a truck and can only do so much!!! The upgrades don't make a major difference and definitely won't make it do something it is not meant to do in the air!!!!! Traxxas makes their vehicles with plenty of power and plenty of what a land vehicle is meant to be!!!
