I was born, raised and still live in Connecticut. I love the old houses and history we have here. This is a beautiful replica of days-gone-by. The fireplace with the beehive oven is the icing on the cake. I myself would have put in a claw foot tub or something that is closer to period. I would also use wooden cabinets instead of pedestal sinks. This to me says home with family and friends. ❤❤

Hello Phyllis, I am a dyed in the wool New Englander. When I was growing up in the late forties the tradition cape cod home at Christmas sported candles in all the windows, a large fir or pine wreath with a red bow. The simplicity of the decor was perfect for this classic home. Where ever I’ve lived I have kept this tradition. My neighbors always comment on the look of my home at Christmas. I’m now living in Canada and still enjoy the simplicity of this iconic cape cod Christmas look. Happy Christmas to you.

This home makes all the typical (boring) modern homes look useless.... People's needs are changing, and I like how this home utilizes all the extra storage spaces that quite frankly, ppl need now. Families are returning to their roots right now and gardening, diy and homemade. This home does a great job bringing that back. Hope there are more out there!

Blown away!!! The way they used the space in the home is stellar. My favorite part is the cook fireplace. I can imagine the smell of bread in that little oven, and a nice stew bubbling on the hearth. The headboard you showed in the first upstairs bedroom is exactly like my mom's and goes perfectly in this style of home.

*_Hello everybody, I'm Home_* !!! No matter how hard they try to push a trend, people are usually drawn to a natural, warm and cozy, lived-in feel. White sofas, glass tables, chrome and faux fur pillows - It's like walking into an interior decor magazine. Don't dare leave your shoes on. Do not put your feet up on the couch!!! It may be pretty to look at, but far from practical and comfortable. What usually happens when we decide to wear white for a day? HOME is definitely where the heart is, in this refuge. Thanks for the share.

Why are the utilities spread out in the cellar ? The oil tank in one corner, the water tank in another and the furnace in another. It makes the cellar difficult to finish off with a rec room , etc.

I love the center chimney. That isn’t a dormer; it’s a shed roof. The “L” addition to our 1825 Greek Revival had a shed roof too. Just in case, the pumpkin pine floors are definitely not dog friendly. Our two Golden Retriever’s made a mess of ours.

What a delightfully different beautifully crafted home! The builder did a fantastic job of seamlessly integrating finely detailed colonial elements with modern conveniences. It captures the solid craftsmanship of an earlier time. When I first saw the price, my jaw dropped. But this is a very special design with countless colonial artisan details which cost a lot to build and require expert cabinet makers and carpenters. It's a wonderful unique piece of art in a sea of drywall. You just can't find homes built like this anymore. It's perfect for building in a historic district and wonderfully designed to support multi-generational families. That said, I don't think I would have put fiberglass baths/showers in the bathrooms because they look oddly out of place, but the rest of the house probably broke the bank. Thanks for this beautiful tour!

Yeah, the shower/bathtub enclosures were a a shock. Think I'd want delft tile instead, with glass shower divider because it felt dark and claustrophobic. The doors on the closets etc really resonated and added a ton to the feel. Magical!

Floorplan at 3:01 The house has good bones. Like the simple, classic design. It would take well to many decorating styles with a little adjustment. The "working" fireplace would be really nice if you have to deal with frequent power outages. My dog would love the small, lower windows upstairs. The farmer's porch is a must. Think I'd have a long porch on both sides of the kitchen. Porches are workhorses for my life. Definitely needs an upper floor laundry, and a dedicated mudroom space downstairs... Reminds me of both the first and second house I lived in.

My house, vintage 1700's, in Duxbury Mass was a Cape style that DID have an 'EL' - kitchen, summer kitchen and shed. Love the 12 over 12 detail in the windows. Rather than the single entry stair case, my house had a ship or double stair cases - one to the right, one to the left - to the 2nd floor. I exposed the 'pit sawn' ceiling beams many of which still had remnants of bark, visible mortise and tenon and roman numerals carved into the beams for construction purposes. House in the video very authentic w/ many modern changes.

I would love to build this somewhere on 5+ acres with Mountain View’s, Colorado, Wyoming, or Montana. I love the extra wide pine floors and all of the storage. Super nice place. I'd personally use that Library area as my computer office. That area that was set-up as a small office by the Bathroom and Keeping Room would be my Pantry. I'd have the back of the house where the second stairs are and the Half Bath reworked upstairs so a residential elevator could be put in and have a Laundry next to it...it would take a dormer to the left and to the right or raise the roof back there. Just thinking, the part of the house where the two Bedrooms are side by side could be added on to. Maybe add 4'. What came to mind is in some areas by code you have to have a built in closet to call a room a Bedroom. A realtor would only list it as a 2 Bedroom with no fixed closets...the one did have it sort of built in. Add 4' and you could do more to make a real closet in those 2, like add a little dormer where the closets would be. That 4' would make the Living and Dining areas a bit bigger too. I noticed in the walk around there was a Basement Bulkhead by the smaller porch, under the Kitchen window. That would be nice for utilities servicemen rather than go through the house. I'd keep that.

Think an elevator is needed, as well as a laundry room. A realtor in my area called a 'converted pantry' a 3/4 bedroom. That was desperate...

Since he’s a custom builder,I think that large study could easily be made into a first floor master.

Beautiful and solid house, love the finishes and millwork. The briefly stated ~1800sf does not include the kitchen “ell” it should be noted. Architect and owner of a ~1800sf historic house and I quickly calculated it.
