Karen and Jack were looking forward spending more time together after their kids when off to school. But then Jack was diagnosed with early onset dementia and everything changed. Despite the changes,Karen, a 2017 winner of VHA's Heart of Home Care Award, remains upbeat, optimistic and completely committed to her "soul mate."

This is love. Not Hollywood's 3 month love, but real, raw, completely imperfect and impractical, love.

I went thru something similar with my husband in his final months at home...he was losing the battle with prostate cancer. I would do it a thousand times again... bless you ma'am and all the care givers who do it with out complaining because you know the time will come when you no longer have to...

I agree, patience comes with time, I am gaining a lot of patience. My husband has Lewy Body Dementia. My grandmother had it, I believe God was preparing me. Lots of love and compassion and nurturing .

I agree with you Paul. What a story of care giving. My Dad had Lewy Body Dementia and suffered with it for several years. The Lord took him home in 2012, and now he's in the arms of Jesus. Take care friend.
