The Pearce Family were early pioneers to the Western Sydney area.
Matthew Pearce from Kings Langley in Hertfordshire, England, along with his wife Martha Parker of the same hometown, travelled to Sydney in 1794 aboard the convict ship 'Surprize'.
They were Free Settlers welcomed into the colony to help colonise Australia with British citizens to balance out the population, who at that time were many convicts.
They were granted land in the Toongabbie district, Seven Hills locality and made the most of it by raising a farm. Expanding to the neighbouring suburbs and naming their piece of paradise 'Kings Langley'
Generations of the Pearce family are interred in a small private Cemetery on their old land, which has now been subdivided and sold off to make way for more housing and roads.
Although most of the Pearce land is no longer, their cemetery still remains.
Mitch had a chance to film the location between Old Windsor Road and the M7, hidden away and safe from harm.
A suburb across from the grant has been named Kings Langley in the Pearce Families honour. Bella Vista suburb to the north of the old grant which was part of the Perce Families extended grant also is still untouched, along with farmhouses and outbuildings from when The Pearce Family were there. We endeavour to have a Bella Vista episode up shortly.
