Lego is breakin my heart with their marvel and dc lines. They used to be so good but marvel stoped making comic sets and focused on the lack luster movies which don't appeal to me and dc is just making batman over and over. Like the batman semi truck. Since i only cared about buying good comic sets and they haven't made any. I have stopped buying lego. Breaks my heart to say but i just can't stand seeing my two favorite lines just have terrible sets for horrible prices

The way Ironman sits in the Hulkbuster, according to hot toys model, his legs would have to slot into the thighs of the suit, which obviously isn't possible here since it'll mess with the stability, so in this case, they should just remove Ironman's legs before putting him inside the Hulkbuster so the torso doesn't have to be so elongated. Also since the Hulkbuster's legs cannot move anyway, they might as well add some mass to the ankles, they're way too skinny compared to the source material

@@icepl831 From the look it, if they were to do that, they can only make them 1 stud wider at most before they start to look disproportional, that could potentially fit ironman's legs, but definitely won't be enough for the technic stuffs required to hold the weight of the upper body

I love the Hulkbuster as a suit, and even this model is kinda cool, but $550 is ridiculous. For that price they should’ve included the $40 Iron Man and the Tony Stark mini fig, but even then, that’s a lot of money! Hot Toys/Sideshow figures can be bought for cheaper than that.

💯 agree. I feel that only the real persistent Lego fans will have that iron man. So not only do you spend all that money but now you cannot even fully enjoy it without spending $40 to $50 extra. So now you are easily looking at over $600 all said and done.

This is hilariously bad. I cannot imagine spending $550 on this. The Titanic is $80 more and is infinitely better. I'm really concerned about Legos future, these prices are absolutely absurd and I cannot justify paying them. I miss the days when the most expensive and "premium" sets were $350-400. I really appreciate you giving a very critical review of it and not trying to paint it in a good light just because Lego sent it to you.

I think this is a prime example of function over fashion. The light bricks and the fact you can add the iron man figure is really cool and the scale on its own is impressive, but it just looks ugly. The torso especially should have been completely redone. Like this is a display set it should look good but this just doesn’t

Great review. The set is exactly what I thought it would - overpriced, over engineered and a great disappointment. I am not even attracted to the $14 small Ironman buildables, so this at 550 is a definite pass.

this set truly stumps me WHO IS THIS SET FOR? For adults? But it is basically an *accessory* , to a woefully inaccurate, *toy*. Even IF they had managed to make the Hulkbuster movie-accurate, it's main gimmick would still have you whipping out this pathetic-looking Iron Man figure... For kids then? it's $550!!! Which parent is going to buy something THAT expensive for their kid? Especially when you consider: it sucks as a toy. It is designed as a display set. It's bulky and heavy and minimally poseable. Maybe for the super Marvel fans? Lego shot themselves in the foot by sticking to that gimmick of having the figure fit inside, because this has ruined the proportions of the torso. That, in combination with other glaring inaccuracies, like the skinny ankles and the shoulder armor at entirely the wrong angle, it is the Wish-version of an actual collectible. Looking at it gives me second-hand embarrassment. Surely for the ultimate Lego fans then?? In a long line-up of Marvel mechs (including several Hulkbuster iterations), was there any Lego fan out there really asking for this? For a 100 bucks extra, you can have the Titanic... Or, for the same price, you can have multiple, awesome sets. Even the minifigure it comes with is embarrassingly "meh". And the price-per-piece ratio is painful.

Imo the shoulder pads and the torso kill the set, the shoulders should move with the arms and not stand there upright, and the torso is too small in the stomach area

Well, I can say now that I definitely won’t be getting this, not like I was even interested in it before anyways. There’s just so many little things they really should have tried to do a little better for the ridiculous amount the set goes for. For $50 more than this I got the Daily Bugle & Ninjago City Gardens (before they each went up in price $50) & while those are expensive, they actually feel like you’re getting your money’s worth because of how detailed they are.

Honestly, it looks kind of ugly and for that price you could spend the few dollars extra and get the UCS Razor Crest which has 50% more pieces (roughly 6000 to this set's 4000). Heck, the Super Mario Mighty Bowser is half the price, has 75% of the pieces (roughly 3000) and feels like a way higher quality model...

As someone who has all the other marvel sets, I don't think I'll be getting this set or the panther bust. For one the cost just doesn't warrant it. I think both are also unnecessary and other builds would be more enjoyable and are wanted by enthusiasts, fans and collectors. This set is just grossly unneeded especially in this economy, even though some can afford it but don't want it.

I had a 1 by 6 missing from my Republic Gunship, and one of the printed glass pieces for the turrets was misplaced with the opposite piece, so I had 3 and 1 instead of 2 and 2. Lego is having QC issues

Kids, take it from an old school builder like me. You'll have folks that say don't 'glue' BUT, you can. Use Elmer's glue. The regular classroom type Elmers. Must be Elmer's. IF you have a finicky part that falls off, just put a dot, just one dot of glue. It'll hold it all in place and it won't damage anything. You can pull it off, and Elmer's dries on the ABS clear, clean and flaky and just flakes off with ease. Trust me. I've done it on Lego kits where you can knock off an antennae easily or some sets where my kid plays with. It helps on those small parts. It won't damage anything, it dries clean and can be taken apart. Don't glue the whole model JUST the little finicky pieces, just a dot on one stud top and it'll hold well.

Seriously, no one liked the original $250 Hulkbuster set, why did lego think so many people wanted one for double the price? Guess it's nice it fits with the buildable Iron Man, if you liked it. And that Tony minifigure is the worst exclusive set minifigure even that one from the smaller Avengers Tower GWP is better. If you need a big Hulkbuster just buy the other even second hand is a better deal, not worth half a thousand bucks.

The Torso is FROM Age of Ultron. During the Birth of vision scene Tony and Cap fight a little bit and its from that scene where Tony summons part of the MK43

I definitely, eventually will get it. I love the Hulkbuster in all it's form and even though not movie accurate, it's an impressive model. I know they had to stretch the torso to fit that Iron Man build-able, but they should've done like other premium figure companies and design it where it's more accurate and just use the head of the build-able figure OR just the torso of the build-able to fit within. On building notes, IF any connection doesn't 'snap' in flush, then you built it wrong. If there's a connection and it connects to the studs clean but the left and right have some even spaced gap, then it was done correct. The tire to have friction on the feet was done on the previous 'ucs' Hulkbuster. It does help alot. I believe the AT-AT Ucs (I don't have it though) has the tire friction element on the bottom of its feet too.

The arc reactor in the center of the hulkbuster is the same piece that is used as the lens in the lighthouse set but instead of being clear and see-through, it is a foggy light blue color. Looks like a neat set but it doesn't really stand out to me in any way due to its high price and its amount of unused/undetailed space (do note that I am more into technic sets than system sets but I do like to build system sets when they look interesting or have something appealing about them [and if I can afford them too]).

Good review. Discounted at 60%, I do not see it selling....and it's for many many reasons...Lego needs to reconsider their price strategy and choices. Looks like most of the new highly priced sets are a huge disappointment for many of us to say the least :)

To me, the torso part along with the head looks good. What really is the issue is how long the arms and legs are in comparison. Would’ve much rather liked to have a UCS Infinity War Hulkbuster instead with an actually desirable figure. Like a Stark figure that is a transition between his gray attire and his nano suit with a brand new face print showing him wearing the E.D.I.T.H. glasses. Marvel has so much variety in terms of ideas and, out of everything, they decided to pick the AOU Hulkbuster… again… really?

I think Lego is trying to push into making action figures again. For so long Lego figures were made of different parts than bricks. It had to be that way because it was impossible to make action figures from bricks cause they would be too fragile and lacking in detail. You can see from Throwbots/Roboslizers, Bionicle, CCBS there is an evolution and this is the next step. At the start it’s awkward but it gets better.

Wasnt ever too interested in this set until I saw it for like 45% off... After seeing someone give the buildable Chewbacca the stratocaster I wonder how that combination would look? And the height difference vs that same Chewbacca or the buildable bowser etc

Not a Lego collector, but I enjoy gifting myself Lego sets from time to time. But now they mainly target Lego superfans who somehow can afford to buy plastic pieces for several hundreds or thousands of bucks a month. Besides some occasional medium priced set I just stay away from Lego. I rather use the money for music equipment than for some dust collector for my shelf.
