Hi I love your video.... You are a natural bee man, so gentle... I was amazed at the way you were just taking the glass beds out, I love bees and have been looking for a safe way to give the bees water, I am allergic to bees but can't help loving them,

Year 2017 , UK , June 16 degrés average . I am founding a lot of bees on the floor , so I have being feeding them with honey and water . Now , I have a large swarm of bees feeding on a saucer plate , many are drowning . Sometime , they are not dead , they need drying and fly again . I will get this feeder with some stones in it , your idea is brilliant ! Thanks

This was really amazing. :O I need to grab one or two of these for when I start up my bees in April. :) Newbie (new-bee?) question, why were so many bees biting and stinging one another? :( Competing colonies?

Because feeding in the open like this makes the bees go frenzy and "rob" each other. It's not uncommon that bees will fight to death with open feeding doing more harm then hood because you'll lose hundreds if not thousands of bees this way..

Hi Arvin, I used rope slows the flow put it under the bottle on the opening and one loop works perfect I made 40 of them. and use them as top feeders and field feeders. Hope this helps Steve

I use the same thing but I put an old sock in the water to help keep them from drowning, and it has cut back on my death rate by about 90% .

@audayhussain2 Only if needed, we will use 1:1 sugar to water in the spring as in this video. If needed we will use 2:1 sugar to water in the fall. This is the standard ratio used by the majority of beekeepers. We avoid feeding unless the survival of the hives makes it necessary.

Have you ever encountered a situation where you are approaching the hive with one of those feeders and the bees are WAITING for you for to drop it off?

Hello Arvin, what about the bee enemies? I live in Brasil and own three stingless bee houses

@audayhussain2 Like yellow jackets? Putting some sugarwater out like this with some meat nearby in a dish. This should attract some wasps. The sugarwater draws them in and the meat should really help them. Just an idea, i haven't tried it.

@aceman4564564 Bees aren't really that interested in other insects especially when they are outside of their hive. Even predators, like the wheel bug in my other videos, don't seem to be considered a threat. I have photos of bees feeding with wasps and bumble bees on comb with no conflict.

@audayhussain2 I have fed this way on numerous occasions and have never experienced the problem you describe. Bees don't have the same problem with gluttony that humans do.
@vegasjay284710 жыл бұрын
Does it have to be sugar water? Could you put say......cherry Kool Aid in the feeder and get cherry flavored honey?
@acbees14 жыл бұрын
@audayhussain2 Wish I could help you, but I've really had no experience in dealing with wasps. Possibly a Google search would give you some info. Sorry. Good luck.
