Fun fact: During the recording of this song the band had to go out for a "smoke break" while gerard was singing cause they couldn't stand the raw emotion in his voice

Fact: This is what Rickly said about Gerard in recording studio: 'Afterwards, everybody just left and went outside to smoke cigarettes because they couldn't deal with looking at him after sung that. He had just ripped himself open in front of everybody l. He'd taken so far that it was uncomfortable for anyone who was friends with him. They hadn't seen him as Gerard the singer, they still saw him as their buddy Gerard. It's a little scary to see someone do what he did." It was in the recording of "Early Sunsets over Monroeville".

when Gerard was making this, he had a really bad toothache, and that's why his voice throughout the song gets weaker and weaker. after they were done recording, he passed out and the band had to take him to the hospital, just to find out he had a toothache.

"And in saying you love me, made things harder at best" 😥 She looked up at me, in cold sweats, the beads falling down her pale and fragile face. I looked away and grimaced, the look on her face sparking the emotion that I had to suppress to get this done. I pressed the cold metal to her forehead. "I love you" she whispered, her voice delicate. I put my shaky finger on the trigger.

This song is so Heartbreaking! Especially these lines: "Late dawns and early sunsets Just like my favorite scenes Then holding hands and life was perfect Just like up on the screen And the whole time while always giving Counting your face among the living Up and down escalators Pennies and colder fountains Elevators and half price sales Trapped in by all these mountains Running away and hiding with you I never thought they'd get me here Not knowing you'd change from just one bite I fought them all off just to hold you close and tight But does anyone notice? But does anyone care? And if I had the guts To put this to your head But would anything matter If you're already dead? And should I be shocked now By the last thing you said? Before I pull this trigger Your eyes vacant and stained But does anyone notice? But does anyone care? And if I had the guts To put this to your head And would anything matter If you're already dead? And now should I be shocked By the last thing you said? Before I pull this trigger Your eyes vacant and stained And in saying you loved me Made things harder at best And these words changing nothing But your body remains And there's no room in this hell There's no room in the next And our memories defeat us And I'll end this direst But does anyone notice? But does anyone care? And if I had the guts To put this to your head But does anything matter If you're already dead? And should I be shocked now By the last thing you said Before I pull this trigger Your eyes vacant and stained And in saying you love me Made things harder at best And these words changing nothing As your body remains And there's no room in this hell There's no room in the next But does anyone notice There's a corpse in this bed"

This song was named after the town I live in/grew up in, and we do really have some of the most amazing sunsets.. with the prettiest pinks and oranges and purples and blues.. Also, Dawn of the Dead was filmed in our local mall, which is part of why MCR did this song as a tribute to the the man who made the film, George A Romero.. this album was based somewhat off said movie

This album is the closest thing to being legitimate emo that MCR have ever done. Like, if you've listened to some classic emo bands like Sunny Day Real Estate, Cap'n Jazz, Rites Of Spring, and Jawbreaker, you can clearly hear the influences sprinkled all over this album. I believe that this song in particular was inspired by Cap'n Jazz but that's merely a speculation.

You wanna know what this song reminds me of? My younger life. Back when i used to live in southern California with all the deserts and mountains. The sunsets there were probably the most beautiful things I've seen. Thinking about the sunsets, mountains, and deserts there bring back nostalgia. The song also gives off sort of a nostalgic vibe. I don't know how to describe it, the sounds just make me feel like I'm back at home. It feels like I'm back in my Aunts room again, watching the sun set behind the mountains. This specific MCR song will always be important to me. The memories and feelings it gives always makes me nostalgic. Sad, yet calm and happy.

I think this is my favorite song from their first album. I just love how it starts out so tranquil and pretty but ends up so desperate and intense. It kind of reminds me of Let it Die by the Foo Fighters, which goes through the same sort of progression. I think the emotion is even more powerful when you don't just start there but you build up to it throughout. (Nothing against their other songs, of course. There's something great in all of them.)

I'm so in love with this song. Brings me so many memories. Sometimes I used to listen to it during the winter time, the early winter sunsets in my town are beautiful. Just stare outside while the light fades and play it so loud as to drown out everything else. I even wrote a story story about this song for my English class a few years ago. Even got it published. Memories.

My interpretation of this song's story is that the person he's singing about was bitten by a vampire or another creature - possibly a metaphor for something else, like an event that changed their personality. At the beginning, he tries to make it sound like a happy, peaceful love song. He's either in denial, trying to keep it together and calm down, or doesn't want people to know what's going on and how devastated he feels. There's moments where he starts to slip ("and the whole time while always giving, counting your face among the living" for example), but he keeps trying to pull it together and paint a picture of an idyllic romance. Then he slips again, and starts thinking about what happened, and he can't pull himself out. The song's direction completely changes as he gives in and accepts that the lover he used to know is gone ("but would anything matter if you're already dead?") and they've become a threat to everyone around them, he must kill them (again, possibly a metaphor for something, such as cutting a person out of your life). He realizes that he needs to scream it out and let it go. His voice is so full of real emotion and it makes you feel like all of this really happened, and you're standing there watching him break down... I freaking love this song. One of mcr's best

Late dawns and early sunsets Just like my favorite scenes Then holding hands and life was perfect Just like up on the screen And the whole time while always giving Counting your face among the living Up and down escalators Pennies and colder fountains Elevators and half price sales Trapped in by all these mountains Running away and hiding with you I never thought they'd get me here Not knowing you changed from just one bite I fought them all off just to hold you close and tight But does anyone notice? But does anyone care? And if I had the guts To put this to your head But would anything matter If you're already dead? And should I be shocked now By the last thing you said? Before I pull this trigger Your eyes vacant and stained But does anyone notice? But does anyone care? And if I had the guts To put this to your head And would anything matter If you're already dead? And now should I be shocked By the last thing you said? Before I pull this trigger Your eyes vacant and stained And in saying you loved me Made things harder at best And these words changing nothing As your body remains And there's no room in this hell There's no room in the next And our memories defeat us And I'll end this direst But does anyone notice? But does anyone care? Well if I had the guts To put this to your head But does anything matter If you're already dead? And should I be shocked now By the last thing you said? Before I pull this trigger Your eyes vacant and stained And it's saying you loved me Made things harder at best And these words changing Nothing as your body remains And there's no room in this hell There's no room in the next But does anyone notice There's a corpse in this bed

Some people simply follow along better if they can see what is being said in full or people like me that like to scroll while reading the lyrics opposed to just sitting there staring at the screen for however long. Its really just what you prefer.

God this song hits so damn hard. Imagine you survive a long and horrible Zombie apocalypse with your girlfriend. You are a duo. Inseperable. You've been through it all. But then out of nowhere, while you both where distracted, a rough disgusting shambling corpse digs its teeth into her skin. Its over. There is no cure. You have to put her out of her misery. You remember your fondest memories from your first kiss, first sunset together, and your first Time holding eachothers hands. "I love You" Says the love of your life as her eyes start to change from their natural green to a sickly white. You have to do it. that was sad lol I really felt it there

I'm obsessed with the concept of someone having a friend who died years ago but still can see/hear their appearance from time to time because of this song. If it's a movie, this song is perfect for when the protagonist is like, fighting to accept that their friend is dead and it's no good for them to cling on their projection forever. They would argue on a hill, in front of a pink sunset like this...

I don't know if this is just a me thing, but does anyone else pick a really sad song and a sad topic and just cry for a few hours just cause it feels nice? I've been playing this song and then I imagine singing it to my older sister once she dies. That thought broke me, even if we fight and act like we hate eachother. I would still feel the worst pain if i ever saw her eyes closed, just knowing that they would never open again. The thought of never seeing her dumb smirk again really hurts. And because I'm the youngest in my family i know that I'm going to watch them all die. I hate it.
