My 9 year old daughter (who loves classroom setup videos!) used your “create a pile in the middle of the room” technique to clean her room and wowza! She loved it and I’m thrilled with how clean her room is!

I totally agree with you on moving all the piles to one central location. One big pile is more manageable than 50 scattered piles. Living your new color scheme.❤

Shelly, your little three drawer cabinet works really well for recess games! I actually have a narrow dresser in my classroom (looks like home) and each drawer has indoor recess fun. I have a chart that has three kids names on it and that is the drawer they have for that indoor recess. Say good bye to decision making each time, say hello to fun and engaging toys they love! Put the ideal fun toys and the kids are happy. I have marble maze in two drawers because they do not like waiting eight days for that drawer to come up again. I have a drawer of matchbox cars with a roll of tape (yup, they make highways across the floor and or tables). You have older kiddos but in my room- indoor recess is prayed for (literally because it's a Christian school.)I call it "Dresser Toys."The original idea came because I could not find matched/lidded bins for a small amount of money. Dresser was 20 bucks!

I haven't checked out your channel since the remote learning days (my bad!). Congratulations on your second child! That is wonderful. I am a former high school principal who decided to move back to the classroom last year. Best decision I ever made! I am teaching 7th grade geography and I cannot wait! I've always been super impressed with the awesomeness of elementary teachers. You folks are the bedrocks of our school districts! I will definitely pay more attention to your channel this school year. God bless!

I taught my daughter make a pile in her room and it makes cleaning her room so much easier and lowers the stress level for everyone! Put it in a pile. Work on it, if you need and break, come back to it after a snack. The only way to clean up chaos. 👍🏻

I ALWAYS make piles when I clean/organize! Love watching your classroom set up days!

I’m glad I’m not the only one that works the same way! “The pile” stresses me out way less too. I know you end up moving stuff multiple times but it helps me feel motivated because most of the room looks the way it should.

I am the exact same way! I would rather move everything in one pile and then when you organize that space is already cleared! Love it!

My parents had me do "the cleaning pile" growing up. It just ended up staying there forever. I guess I'm a zone cleaner, if there's a such thing.

I have to clean the same way. It’s definitely not chaotic. Because when it’s in a pile I can pick up one thing at a time and put it where it goes. Your cleaning method is totally same way I have to clean. ;)

I know you probably already have a title or quote from the mirror in the back of your room, but what if you titled it “ Your choices reflect on you!” I think that’s a good quote for younger kids because it is simple but really meaningful! Also, I love all your school vlogs, classroom setup, and back to school videos!!

I clean the same way 😂 last year I inherited a classroom from a teacher who had been in there 20+ years. First thing I did, emptied the enormous closet and all cabinets into a huge pile ... Then 3 piles from there trash, give away, and find a place ... Took me a bit but I couldn't even bring my own stuff in until I did! We can't even get in our classrooms yet (in service starts the 30th 🤞before then we can set up)... First time in 20 years, I've had to wait all summer. It's killing me! So it's fun to watch others get started

This is so funny cuz I literally just did that in my room. It must be like you that I needed to see everything that I had. I brought a bunch home and I am still sorting. I have found some useful items for my new position though by doing it this way that I may have otherwise missed. Another teacher was coming to my room and I mentioned that it was a hot mess express. I like the new alphabet you created! I'm not usually into black but that really pops with the dark behind the bright letters. Another trick for spacing bulletin board letters is spacing them perfectly on a table then laying painters tape on top of them and then transferring them (still attached to painters tape) to bulletin board. Then you can move the tape around to where you want, staple them and remove tape. This hack saves a ton of time!
@EarlyEDventures2 жыл бұрын
I have tried this, but I found that I STILL had to tweak things once they were up because they would move slightly from the tape

I cringed when you said giant pile. Then I realized you needed to know how much you have of one type and the number of types you have to find the right spaces for them. That is absolutely the best thing to do in that situation. If things already have a spot then, no, don't touch them twice. Pick it up put it in its spot. Can't wait to see you whittle away at your pile.

I’m not excited for classroom setup this year :/ i’m a 6th year reading specialist and I’m probably going to be in the hallway unfortunately :( I heard they were giving my tiny room the size of a closet to the gym teachers to store stuff so that puts me and all my things in the hall. Kids steal at my school so much so that I caught a student IN MY PURSE STEALING last year and the student attacked me when I tried to get my freaking wallet back so being in the hall is giving me severe anxiety:/
