Roy Khan's voice was a serious metal voice for being clean. It was aggressive, dark sounding and it just straight up kicked ass. I listen to a lot of different styles of metal: Death, power, symphonic, progressive, thrash, and Roy's vocals in my opinion, was one of the best clean vocals in studio, and live.

Tgkjj I agree. You can really feel his struggle with various things, even down to his possible questioning the existence or presence of God. I'm really happy that he overcame all of that, though it's unfortunate he couldn't stay in the band. Supposedly Roy told someone he met that he hasn't completely ruled out the possibility of a solo album, but he doesn't have any solid plans as of now.

Khan is irreplaceable; I hope he and the band realize how much we, as fans, appreciate the time we have had to enjoy their unique sound. I think it's inevitable that the band's sound will evolve when they select a new singer, because it makes no sense to write a sound that works with Khan's voice when his will no longer be the one belting it out.

@georgejansen408911 жыл бұрын
I'm amazed how many people don't hear the difference between Roy and Tommy, really. One singer that hits all the right notes and has a good voice and then there is the legend that is Khan. If you think that simply replacing a singer is gonna cut it, well, don't know what to tell you. When Roy joined Kamelot, the band really took off, with good reason. Khan, for a big part, made Kamelot what it is now.
@carin41397 жыл бұрын
George Jansen exactly, before Khan they were a cheap copy of Crimson Glory and now they are a cheap copy of themselves. In terms of vocals, music and lyrics. Tommy knows how to sing good and all that but it isn't enough to replace Khan
@trajectoryunown4 жыл бұрын
Reminds me of how The Agonist replaced Alissa with a sound-alike. It didn't work. Sure, they sound good but they've got their own styles. Incorporate that into the band instead of trying to hold onto your glory days. It's desperate and doesn't sound good. Tommy's a great vocalist, but he's not Khan. Vicky's good, but she's not Alissa. Let them bring what they have to offer instead of forcing them to adhere to the sound that made you notable and it'll be better. I stopped listening to both of these bands for precisely that reason. They were great, but now they're grasping at a past that's gone and the fans can tell.
@AsgrodElros3 жыл бұрын
I'm obsessed with Tommy singing in Ayreon I can't compare him with Roy even if Roy is my favorite singer of all times, but Tommy with Kamelot is meh... Roy composing side by side with all the other band members were amazing, now kamelot is just Alissa White Glutz :v even the comments on their new videos are all about Alissa, their music is not majestic anymore

he doesn't try to be Roy. He just sounds like Roy. He was chosen for this trait. But he has his own style as well, and he has a nice combination of a younger voice, and kamelot's current sound, to back him up. He's very good on his own. He'll never be Roy, but give him some time to get into the swing of things. He'll be unique enough to satisfy you all soon enough. Have faith in Kamelot, who have entertained us for so long these years.

When I heard a few songs in Silverthorn, I could've sworn I heard Khan. The reason Tommy was chosen (and from what Tommy says, their first choice..but he had obligations)..Tommy and Roy had similar vocal styles that mesh with the Kamelot styles. Khan made a decision to leave, and I respect him for it. If his heart was starting not to be in it, it would have be bad..and from what I read, he is as happy now as he was with the fans.
