Dividend are not bad if u dont spend that money thinking of it as additional money, i reinvest the dividend money back into markets (not in same stock, but in market) This way i dont see it as a bad thing, a company not expanding isnt as bad as a company unnecessarily expanding without actually growing in true sense

Vedanta dividend reinvested in last 5 years still profit is more than 100% 3. IOC got bonus once in last 5 years stock grown more than 100% 4., ITC currently in 95% profit . Dividend always reinvested in last 5 years 5. GAIL got bonus once in last 5 years and and currently in 180% profit. Why you are not understanding long Term benefits? and Power of Compounding. It's not accurate completely, Coal India, TCS, GAIL, SAIL, NALCO, ITC, ....they all provide some percent as dividends probably annually or biannually and they have shown relatively good growth as well. It's better to research and verify, nothing is factual in market.

There’s is one more side of it. Instead of going for assume growth we can go in dividends paying company. Other positive side of dividends is we know that owner and management is really earning money and then distributing (except in loan case). Also many good companies which pay good dividends also appreciate and when the distribute money it’s show their interest towards minority shareholders. But yes buybacks are more effective solution.

Have observed mostly those into fund management, PMS criticises dividends a lot.. I think somewhat dividend is not that bad. In the long run, it actually puts money in the pocket of investors and also reduces the risk. After all, no one knows which company will survive for the next several years. At least in such case, there will be something in the hands of investors.

Using dividends for investing in Profit making businesses makes sense. But these guys enjoy teaching about Capital Appreciation. No one is asking to invests in High Payout, Constant Dividends, Negative FCF companies, High Leverage companies, falling prices. Aap apna filter daal ke invest karo. Nothing beats a SJVN, Coal India. Growing Dividends in fact are the first proof of accounting quality in markets like India.
