After hearing this story and seeing the pressure on Ralph and Dale Sr...it make me think about the burden that has unfairly been on Jr. He suddenly became the leader of the family and of NASCAR. The pressure must have been immense these past 20 yrs

Good lord that was a good one, tough to watch, but a good one. I lost my grandaddy, my dad and my granny over the past year, so I can relate to what she was saying/feeling. Man it's tough and seeing how emotional it can make you all those years later. Strong woman right there, strong family for sure.

Hearing stories like this goes a long way toward healing some of the open wounds Teresa left on so many of Dales's fans when he died. A lot of us needed some closure but it wasn't in Teresa's heart to let that happen. So even after 21 years, family stories like these make Dales fans feel closer to him and get a little of the closure that they need.
@jerrycraig65222 жыл бұрын
That's a great point, should be in the top of the list!!!
@sergeantmasson3669 Жыл бұрын
Anthony Nelson, Teresa is an evil greedy witch. She won't even allow Earnhardt family members to visit Dale Sr's grave or Dale Sr's property. She even won't allow Dale Jr, and Kelly, to have personal items that still belong to them.

The story about how Dale changed after divorcing his first wife, mainly losing access to Kerry, was heartbreaking.

I hope those words helped Dale Jr. and Kelly to have a little more understanding for their raising.
@aful30912 жыл бұрын
I think this story is a seminal moment in Dale's life that we the fans never really knew about that informs a lot about his personality. Like Cathy said, it changed him and made him bitter, and it doesn't seem like he fully got over it until well in to the 90's.
@puffykilled2pac2 жыл бұрын
There's obviously more to the story. The idea that she left him because he "smelled like grease" is laughable.

This video is such a powerful and emotional glimpse into the Earnhardt family's history. Cathy’s story about Ralph Earnhardt’s untimely passing and the impact it had on the family is incredibly moving. It’s heartbreaking to hear how the closed shop door marked the beginning of such a profound loss. Yet, Dale Earnhardt’s determination and work ethic in the face of adversity are truly inspiring. It’s a reminder of the sacrifices made for success and the price it often takes on personal lives. The love and strength within this family is evident in every word shared.

I appreciate that you are willing to allow such personal information to be put out there on your podcast. There are plenty of celebrities that choose to hide certain things from their personal life and I commend you for allowing us, your fans', to have a glimpse into your background and family history. It is so refreshing that you are aware and connected with your audience to bring these topics to us.

Dale is still missed I lost my Dad in1985 and when I hear these stories about Dale Earnhardt it breaks my heart thinking about my Dad and how it destroyed me when he died he was only 54 years old and we both raced not no where near the level of the Earnhardt's but there is a lot of similarities with racers

I too lost my dad in 1991, he was only 51 and I was 26. It destroyed our family as well, he was our rock and protector. It hurts just as much today as it did then. Aunt Cathy was able to put words to how I have felt all these years. it was hard to hear but it helped me too. I think Jr & Kelley benefited by learning new things about their dad that may give them comfort by looking at a few things with a different viewpoint.

I enjoy these stories so much. I grew up around racing myself (ARCA Supercar / Late model Series from the 80's till early 2000's) and can relate that my father (who idolized Dale Earnhardt) was not around a lot when I was young because he too was out racing or at the shop working on cars. It's amazing to me how similar racing folks are in many respects and how relatable they are too. Just hard working people doing what they love and hanging on, holding out hope to one day make it to the big leagues.
