Thank you for the Capricorn reading! I went thru a dark night of the soul in ‘23, nearing the end. My trust was betrayed near the end of my career 2014-16, I had a very large caseload piled upon me - I made it through but retired early. Now at 64 I’m looking to returning to my own practice after a year of healing from knee surgeries and depression. It does remain to be seen. I see the light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you, Maryann. As a Capricorn, I’ve w been working for some months of my traumatic, chaotic childhood that my elder siblings and younger siblings did not experience due simply to the vast difference in age. I was the only child in my family that experienced this series of events, so to talk about them to my younger siblings means I would not be believed. My mother was not in good mental health and simply was not up to caring for a super bright child with all sorts of questions, who as she grew older, insisted on telling the truth- the truth her mother wanted hidden. I was the child my mother abused in so many ways because she couldn’t break my spirit. She remained extremely jealous of my life all the way to our last parting. So. I’ve worked long and hard in reading, thinking, writhing, getting rid of all that toxicity that my childhood saddled me with, and trying to understand why it happened in the first place. It wasn’t just my mother, but my father who were not matured people when it came to raising children and did not act appropriately for the situation at hand. My father and I had a much better relationship because our birthdays are four days apart, and I loved working around the farm with him more than anyone else. I’ve started to speak about my CPTSD and my special gifts woth trusted people, Who do not react in scorn, sarcasm or disbelief. I’ve not come to the point of seeing these empathetic gifts as “good” or “bad”, but trying to accept them as they are. So, meditation, thinking, working through memories has been quite beneficial. I still have much work to do in accepting myself bodily, but that happens with a mother who took out every criticism she could think of on me. Other people occasionally called her on it. Still others refused to object, afraid of her vicious Scorpio temperment. There is still a bit of blame directed towards my mother because as an elementary school teacher, she knew better. But apparently she ignored her training and did the opposite. There was no similarities in how she patented me and those she taught. My youngest siblings got the kinder, wiser version. I also see where the effects of my childhood meant my children would never have to experience the things I went through. This was one place my ex and I agreed. The boys would get every available assistance they needed. Nothing that affected body mind, spirit or health would be neglected. Now. All three sons had their moments of hating me for it- particularly when two wanted to join the military, but their medical and educational files said that wasn’t going to happen. But at the same time, I have my sons as adults in their thirties where so many of their classmates died due to the ongoing 20 years of war, or came back so deeply disturbed they committed some form of suicide through deaths of despair. My eldest son has a graduating class that already has 10 deceased due to the ongoing wars that they enlisted to fight. Likewise, it is enormously hard for them to understand their beloved grandmother was a narcissistic abuser to their mother. The two juxtapositions simply don’t compute. It’s a very hard lesson about all human beings having a shadow side and no one is ever perfect. I hope one day they will be able to accept that she was a loving grandmother and and equally horrid person to many who crossed her. The other fact that has not settled well is that I told my mother before I left my home country 15 years ago, that she had every single sign of dementia, and she needed evaluation asap. She told me I didn’t know what I was talking about, even though I was the one with over a decade of work in assisting people through this process. I had to be harsh with her and say that the next time she and I were in the same room, she would not know who I was. 4-6 of our family friends, most of them female had already gone down this path and died. She knew deep down she had it, but the ego has strong denial capabilities. Had she actually gotten help when she needed it instead of when it was too late to help her medically, my youngest siblings would’ve had the time and talks they needed to have with her, instead feeling as if they have free fallen of the cliff that is end stage dementia in 5 short years. I truly am empathetic to their distress, but even my youngest sister had to stop denying what was going on when Mother thought she was an intruder instead of her favorite daughter. So, now we all await her passing. Considering her own mother lived five years in nursing care to die at 92, the wait might be long. The strength of will in some human beings is enormous, even though physically the end comes closer.

Felt strange reading your response because similarly I was brought up in which two of my younger siblings experienced a very different upbringing from ‘the parents ‘ than I did. And because of the age difference the cruelty i received wasn’t visible to them. Makes for an interesting life eh . Thank you for sharing. Opposite here, I was the youngest by 10 and 14 years to the elders. Completely different households and so much abuse, and yes, the narcissist. It's called being the "target child". I hope you find your healing and understand ones who did not survive it will never understand, so you need to let it go and move on. I was told how "mean" I was to my mother by a sibling, same parent who called me ever name in the book and held a gun on me threatening to kill me. Sibling whined to me one day that mother called her a b*, and I was like, So? I was called that when I was 6 on a daily basis. Hang in there. Don't let the narcissist keep controlling you. Take back your power, and let the rest just go on by.
