The art of modulation, nothing sounds forced or trite. What musicians!
@eddyvideostar3 жыл бұрын
To Palmiras 100 I agree this is rotating modulation. However, I am not sure what you mean by forced or trite.
@palmiras1003 жыл бұрын
@@eddyvideostarHi! I simply meant that it could have been a cliche. instead, the modulation is incredibly smooth; it doesn't feel like we're going to a distant key. EWF never ceases to amaze me, after all these years. I mean, perfectly-pitched hand percussion (in "September")? Here's a recent commentary on them: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fHLKipaFlNyHitE

@tcapmusicgf29611 жыл бұрын
This is very good practice. For the advanced ones such as this, I would encourage you to display the chords as they would appear per their style of key signature. For example, when the chorus is going up by 4th's (the root note), once you get to measure 6 of the chorus, don't be afraid to display the chords as "Db..." :Gb...." & "Cb..." Just a thought - again, I like playing along with these. Thanks for posting.

You have to tip a nod to Foster, Graydon and Champlin...,yes, EW&F, did change the song to suit that high falsetto from Bailey, etc. but the basic chart has got to be considered one of the best jazz/rock fusion ballads ever......,but...,that extra modulation that EW&F thru in is unbelievable. This is the meaning of "lush life".

@MusikeXavier8 жыл бұрын
+diver90 yes, it is. I had to double check that myself because the G#M7 clashed with the harmony in the recording.
@MusikeXavier8 жыл бұрын
+diver90 Also the passing chord at around 1:53 labeled C#M7/B is actually a C#min7/B. The label is wrong but he plays the correct chord.
