Philip Bailey not only has a beautiful falsetto, but has an octave range right up there with some of the great women of R&B like Cheryl Lynn, Anita Baker, etc

This takes me ALL the way back. I used to play my brother's Gratitude album (especially this song) so much, he bought a new one and gave the old one to me. When this two album set came out, it was fire! 🔥 I couldn't get enough and still can't 'til this day. Great reaction Jack. 💛

Hey jack how r u 👋🏾Maurice white on lead tenor vocals then Philip Bailey's falsetto but there also other members on background vocals. But usually Maurice & Philip. Maurice White is the creator & brain of the group he is the one came came up with concept naming the band putting the band together producing composing. Yes the horn section Maurice and when he formed EWF roots was jazz evidently infusing other genres so when you hear their catalog. Its Afro -pop jazz R&B soul funk disco latin

Earth, Wind & Fire was just steller when it comes to songwriting, arrangements, musicianship , background vocals , and then, they were the best at going on stage and giving you the same live. Maurice White, Phillip Bailey , and some of the best musicians in music. They set the bar high!

I love this song. D'Angelo's cover is also 🔥. Philip Bailey has a lot of good music (R&B, jazz, gospel, etc.) as a solo artist, too. His duet with Phil Collins, Easy Lover, is genius with a fun video! Very versatile!

_I always wondered why water was not in their name. I learned recently that Earth Wind & Fire's name used to be the _*_"Salty Peppers"_*_ 🫣🤣. Thankfully, due to Maurice's interest in astrology, he discovered all three elements were in his astrological chart according to classical triplicities. He discovered his astrology sign was Sagittarius - Fire, and in the Northern Hemisphere, Sagittarius occurs in autumn, which Earth comes from, and in the Southern Hemisphere, the season is Spring which is the element Air. That is why Water is not in their band's name._
