Almost cried listening to this instrumental. It's is simply majestic how the trombones made up the base for the voices to come. Amazing piece of true music and art.

Thank you for posting the instrumental version of this song. You can really hear the great arrangements of instruments. I am a keyboard player and I can hear the complex parts of this great song.

Every man has a place In his heart there's a space And the world can't erase his fantasies Take a ride in the sky On our ship, fantasize All your dreams will come true right away And we will live together Until the twelfth of never Our voices will ring forever, as one Every thought is a dream Rushing by in a stream Bringing life to the kingdom of doing Take a ride in the sky On our ship, fantasize All your dreams will come true miles away Our voices will ring together Until the twelfth of never We all will live love forever, as one Come to see victory In a land called fantasy Loving life, a new degree Bring your mind to everlasting liberty As one, come to see victory In a land called fantasy Loving life for you and me To behold, to your soul is ecstasy You will find other kind That has been in search of you Many lives has brought you to Recognize, it's your life now in review And as you stay for the play Fantasy has in store for you A glowing light will see you through It's your day, shining day All your dreams come true As you glide in your stride With the wind as you fly away Give a smile from your lips and say I'm free, yes I'm free, now I'm on my way Come to see victory In a land called fantasy Loving life for you and me To behold, to your soul is ecstasy You will find other kind That has been in search of you Many lives has brought you to Recognize, it's your life now in review

This is great. A true instrumental, not those fake ones where they mute the main vocal track but leave background-vocal tracks.

I know exactly what it is. I've been waiting for someone to ask! I met the recording engineer George Massenberg and asked that exact question. He said that it was a Steinway piano. They slowed the tape machine down to half speed. Larry Dunn played the part at half tempo and down an octave. When set to normal speed, you get a harpsichord type of sound. George wanted a harpsichord for the intro but Maurice would not let him bring one in to record. Maurice hated the idea of a harpsichord. George wanted that "Classical" vibe. So, when Maurice was gone from the studio, George recorded the piano. Lo and behold, Maurice liked it. If it were left up to Maurice, this amazing intro would not have sounded this way. I love Maurice beyond words, but the relationship with he and George was not fair nor always respectful. George made those records, that we all love, sound the way they did. He is a master contributor to the art form of sound. The truth is, George had a LOT of production suggestions in all those early EW&F records. Maurice never acknowledged his contributions, which is why they split up. I expressed my deep appreciation for those recording. I told him, "George, those E,W&F recordings are like the most beautiful, brilliant pieces of colorful art." He responded, "Really?" It was weird. There was lots of hurtful baggage there. I hope you found this interesting. Peace

Also, that really fast keyboard lick, when the band kicks in, is also that same piano trick. Brilliant!
