A very cool if not slightly sad story, but there were other things Kami could have tried. Saving some of the earths fighters and training them in the hyperbolic time chamber comes to mind. Even just training Krillin and Yamcha normally is better than throwing their lives away. The year of training Kami did with the humans after Raditz’s arrival in canon allowed them to at least match Goku’s strength before he was killed. Kami also could have wished for his youth and trained himself in the time chamber. He also could have just used the dragon balls for a multitude of other purposes like reviving earth’s fallen heroes, revive those innocents killed in the slaughter, or even just use them to inconvenience the saiyan effort in small ways. Lastly let’s not forget the Mafuba/Evil Containment Wave which Mr. Popo does mention and would technically work against Raditz, although Kami mentioned more saiyan would arrive later regardless. I’m just saying the man had options besides dooming humanity to Piccolo Daimao

While those are good options, I highly doubt any of them would work in the long run. Krillin and Yamcha are still human and pretty fresh out of the Turtle School. Without Goku to motivate them, they probably never pushed themselves to go further than where they are now. And since this is before the 22nd Tournament, the Red Ribbon Army events probably never happened. Which means they never visited Korin. And even if they managed to get a day or two in the chamber, they still wouldn't be anywhere near to beat Raditz. And while the Mafuba is effective, it drains a lot of energy just to trap one. Not sure about Kami, but both Roshi and his master died using it. And Tien was severly weakened after trying it himself, failing only because Piccolo's minion Drum got in the way. And Raditz has four Saiyans under his command. As for the Dragon Balls. This is way before Dende arrived. These balls grant one wish once a year.

@@BBBHuey Agree to disagree about Krillin and Yamcha having no chance against Raditz. One of the reasons Piccolo and Goku stood a chance against him to begin with is because he’s arrogant and clearly not formally trained. Additionally, both Krillin and Yamcha greatly exceed the powers of Raditz by the end of Z and currently keep up with literal gods in the Super Manga. I think having Raditz as a benchmark would push them to train very hard to save earth and while it would be very difficult they could do it with Kami’s help. As for the other points I know about the damaging effects of the Mafuba on the one who uses the technique, but that’s why I listed other options. I’m also aware of how the Dragon Balls work at this point. Asking for his youth was a good idea in my opinion, but giving himself up to King Piccolo so quickly in my opinion wasn’t wholly necessary. I think had he recruited help from others he could have at least saved the earth from Raditz

Again the story is well written and very cool. I was just thinking up alternative things he could have tried before resorting to that.

I forgot just how much sense Demon King Piccolo being stronger the the upper ranks of the Sayian Army makes. Fused Piccolo is stronger than Imp. Cell, who, at the time, was presumably about as strong as SSJ Trunks. We also know that Ssj Vegeta was weaker than Fused Piccolo so it stands to reason that one could claim that this Piccolo could be stronger than ALL of the Sayain Army save for Broly. That said, this iteration of Piccolo doesn't have Nail so that may mean the difference. I'm fully invested and curious to see where this goes.

Considering the base storyline this fusion would probably be stronger than SS1 or approaching cell, since both parties would be young and at their prime for the fusion. But with no fusion from nail its iffy. Still be cool to see an evil Piccolo running around as the strongest in the universe. Then he can fight slug or fuse with him to be unstoppable.

He'd at least be around or above Frieza. In DBM, a being can't be stronger than a Frost Demon unless they're a God (like a Kaioshin), a Super Namekian, a Super Saiyan, with a technique (like Kaioken), with Fusion or through artificial means (with cybernetic enhancements, being an artificial being like Cell or Buu though I think Buu might fall under the God category too).

Assuming it's a universe 18 gogeta, gogeta would win. The vegito that was made in 16 is made out of 2 beings weaker than kid buu, Gohan and (arguably) South and grand supreme Kai. Meanwhile universe 18 goku and vegeta are stronger than Gohan and possibly the stronger incarnation of kid buu: uub. Hell you could even argue that base goku In universe 18 is stronger than ssj3 goku from 16 but I won't go in to that here. Point is gogeta is at least just as strong as vegito considering that vegito has apparently never trained in his life.

He has developed tons of new techniques since fusing(The ability to destroy souls, Kai-Like instant travel, energy contructs) none of which he had before. Plus he was training and helping Bra her whole life, and working with the Kai's as their agent of order. Get out of her with the Downplay, Vegettio is one of the strongest on the Entire tournament. Now that said I do see Gogeta being made and fighting against him, but the time limit would hold him back too much, and more than likely it'll be Bra that becomes the hero and takes the win.

According to piccolo from universe 16 he has never seen vegito using his full power, let alone taking damage until the Broly and Bra herself became excited when she finally saw vegito's full power, clearly implying that he himself has never trained. And the ability to destroy souls could just be something that vegito always had, which would explain why kid buu didn't immediately cause havoc in the other world before reaching the soul cleanser as his soul was destroyed by vegito but that's just speculation. Point is vegito hasn't really changed strength wise.

Honestly, the Grand Kaio was the standout character for me. His logic and reasoning were so cool as well as good hearted, knowing that most of the participants simply wanted a good fight. Kaio, knowing this, only wanted to give the opportunity to the mortals while also throwing his own personal bias to the side. Basically, Lawful Good ---> Chaotic Good

Piccolo had his year of training for the Saiyans, then the time spent on King Kais planet, Nail fusion and then the three years of training for the Androids. I would say that without all of this, King Piccolo is around Goku when he first became a SS, easily more than a match for the entire Saiyan race. The average Saiyans have power levels around 1000 while elites range from 10K-20k. King Piccolo is around 150 million at this point.

Kami already knew he was fighting a losing battle. Given how evil Piccolo is, he could care less if everyone of Earth died to the Saiyans. And he couldn't kill Piccolo without killing himself. So he chose to merge with his evil half in hope that the Earth would still survive.

He was also considering what events may/may not have led to them killing most of the human race. Not to mention the looming threat of cell too.
