The melodies' locations are one of the things I find outdated (if that's the word) about Mother 1. Like, you have the canary where you have to realise you basically walk through a wall.

About the canary part, you can clearly see that the pillar you can walk through is different than the others, and that there's a canary outside the park. The real difficult part is you getting the baby canary, like, what if someone doesn't have any interest in exploring the Department Store to find the Pet Shop?
