All the photos taken from the journey have you appreciate every memories you had with the children, and then realize this is the real end of the story. I played this game for the first time in 2015 and finished it a few days before Iwata passed. Never had I cried over a video game but Earthbound opened the waterworks for me once I saw the credits roll. I cried because of the childhood innocence I wish I could experience again and once the news broke about Iwata days later, I watched the credits again and broke down even harder 😢 Earthbound is a legendary RPG and I enjoyed every second of it, it’s a wonderful experience 🌎

What I'm thinking is that OP didn't immediately return to Ness's house after getting the Sound Stone at the start of the game. They probably progressed through the story for a *very* long time until every party member was recruited, and at some point after that, they returned there and triggered the Photo Man cutscene.
