EarthCam brings you to Herald Square in the midtown Manhattan neighborhood of New York City. It's formed by the intersection of Broadway, Sixth Avenue, and 34th Street. Did you know that Herald Square is home to the flagship Macy Department store? Macy's, known for its Thanksgiving Day Parade has been a retail landmark for 115 years! The area which Macy's owns is valued at over $3.3B, which despite the e-commerce retail industry boom, provides a significant asset to the corporation. Herald Square's namesake originates from a now historic concept in itself- a newspaper. The New York Herald was published here from 1830 to 1966, thereafter this publication became the International Herald Tribune which was owned by the New York Times. Now more than ever, Herald Square is having yet another revival, its more pedestrian friendly-- offering seating, umbrellas, chess tables, food stalls, and shopping.
