I would have said “Martin, do you actually think that’s true and not an absolutely ridiculous statement that you’re making for some particular reason of trying to sway people to just continue eating meat? Do you really think that animals are treated better when humans are not being bred for slaughter? Are we forcibly impregnating human women? Are we keeping humans in pens of their own feces waiting to be killed so we can then eat them? Are you absolutely deranged?” Now… I may not have said that on television. But maybe I would have!

I really hate these 10 minute tv shows that discuss big topics in way too short of a time. Especially when you barely have time to debunk all the lies defending the status quo. I want a 2 hour conversation on tv including Ed, that farmers union goofball president, then add a couple of experts that can confirm or deny various claims.

That's the problem, one can shoot out 100 lies in 2 minutes but it's harder and it takes a lot more time to dispel them. Dishonest, callous and delusional people have the advantage in that arena. Though it also occurs in longer debates.

You can see the marketing team going into overdrive for this interview. The guys accent, clothes and even the backdrop are on point. They are basically try selling this guy as a tolkienesque hobbit that’s just woken up from under an oak tree taking a nap while watching his sheep only to be harassed by the ungrateful youths. That’s what they try to sell a romanticized fairytale. Who cares if it’s all lies, the people want to be lied to. I was having a debate with someone online once. It went on and on - he had a response for everything. He then finally claimed the farm he worked on wasn't like that. I said to post a photo if that was the case. His response was that he wouldn't, but only because he didn't want his farm identified. I pointed out that would be impossible - just send a photo of the animals, if they had such a great existence. Never heard another word from him. This was a person who'd debated (illogically) until he was blue in the face, but when given the opportunity to 'prove' how great the standards were on his farm, went awol.

@@navadel1 very typical haha. I have received many comments like that; furious, angry people just writing essays about how most of the cattle grows in these idilliac pastures, how they are painlessly killed with one shotgun bullet in their brain so that they feel nothing, and how the ag industry is actually saving the environment and how all the crops are grown for vegans and veganism is destroying the eco system. I wish something like this had been said to me before I was vegan whenever I went to the "not all slaughterhouses" argument. Okay then, no worries, all of the footage available from slaughterhouses is conveniently from the bad ones. Link me to the footage of the nice ones. Link me to the footage of the humane ones. What are the odds that investigators are getting so "lucky" to capture horrific and upsetting footage. Or if they're not releasing everything they capture then surely the industry should set the record straight by doing it themselves.

I think there are a couple of points here, Joe (1) Ed was part of a short slot on a tv programme and the interviewer was very much in control of who got how much airtime within that slot. She was trying to give them a similar amount of time as well as covering her agenda of questions. That was a fair way of making sure that viewers heard both sides. (2) I think Ed makes more of an impression by his polite, measured and reasonable approach. He is assertive but not aggressive. If he had interrupted Martin or shouted him down out of turn, public response may not have been favourable to him? Just my thoughts. :)

The reporter seemed quite shaken by the bare facts you presented and appealed to the other person to please say something (I guess in order to bring herself and the viewers back to their comfort zones). What you said on tv will have had some impact Ed. Your further comments here were also spot on. Also, the hue and cry about the Amazon is of course necessary, but in líne with these arguments, if all the other countries had not already devastated their own land for meat production in the past with no consequences we wouldn't be relying on the Amazon in this way. It's not fair for countries to rant against the Amazon, and not pay them for being in the unfortunate position of being one of the last places to destroy their lands for meat. Instead, the world needs to pay the Amazon and other such areas well, to allow them to rebuild their habitat. Another great topic Ed, well done.

It would be great to see vegan support for this, we are on your side farmers, let’s make the UK self sufficient for fruit and veg, stop importing all the animal feed, and re wild the spare land, as we’ll only need a third of it anyway. So I think the talk about the animals for food being treated better tha some humans are being treated is a distraction, but humans will use any distractions to justify what they do or make themselves feel better about it, so we get, 'ahh, they're being treated better than my boss treats me, and farm animals don't have to work, and they do 't have to suffer like me and other humans, and look at thosehumans in the war zones' etc.

I became Vegan the day I watched the Game changers, precisely because I was made aware of the lies the meat and dairy industry have fed us for decades - I gain no health benefit from consuming meat. Hearing this guy rapid fire lies through his teeth was frustrating, and I'm glad you've had practice debating people who spout nonsense.

@Il Cavalluccio Marino B12 is a bacteria that is naturally found in soil, but with commercial farming and the heavy, routine use of pesticides and others of the sort, any and all b12 in the soil is killed. Cows and other grass-feeding animals that are bred to be killed can get b12 from grazing since it is found in the soil they are ingesting. (But as mentioned above, heavy pesticides kill the b12 in soil.) In farming, the majority of animals are fed soy or corn food pellets in dark, crowded, enclosed spaces with cement floors and no grass to be found. We used to get it the same way as we walked around barefoot picking up fruits and veggies from the ground, absorbing it through our skin and not washing what we ate so we could get it that way as well. The B-12 myth has been busted . Stop thinking that animals products are the only source.

Humans are animals too don't forget. And a lot of animal brains on here unfortunately do not understand how they are duped by this crazy NWO push toward veganism. I used to be a hardcore "vegetarian" myself. It's almost impossible to avoid meat, and for a good reason. If you have to take artificial supplements for B12 and D3 for example that should tell you right there you are not eating your natural diet. The animals do not need to suffer needlessly, and nobody is saying that. If you were being chased by a theoretical raptor who just wanted to eat you to survive, that might change your perspective a bit as to the harsh nature of reality that as a being of gross physical matter you are always having to consume something else to survive. Do you think plants like to be eaten too? No they don't, that's why they lace themselves with tannins and other toxins so the animals don't destroy them. You are buying right into NWO agenda with all the talk of climate control and the poor animals. What about the humans animals, think of those too.

He is straight up lying about the practices but people like that genuinely do believe that what they are doing is right. I am a vet student so have to work with a lot of farmers and they do genuinely think they give the animals a good life and that we simply need meat. One farmer even told me they are doing the animals a favour because by slaughtering them when they are young, they prevent them having to deteriorate and suffer when they get ill from old age. This is of course complete rubbish because they literally kill the animals before puberty age when they would still have many happy years before them. What I'm trying to say is, these people in the industry have been brought up with that mindset and are very unlikely to change. We have to target the public and aim to reduce consumer demand for meat and animal products I think. Very sad being forced to work in that environment as a vet student but one day I hope to be a sanctuary vet and use my skills for the good of animals💖💖

It's surprising how much someone can lie to oneself if the truth would result in the realization that you are doing something that is wrong. Everyone wants to believe they are a good, moral person. I can imagine someone raised to be a farmer and doing it for years having a huge mental resistance to the idea that what he is doing could be wrong. Otherwise, the realization would be quite devastating. I think that is one of the main barriers of entry for veganism. People just don't want to think that they and the people they love and admire may be doing something cruel and unnecesary and have been happily doing so for years. I don't think people should beat themselves over it, just understand it and move on, preferably going on the road of becoming vegan or at least reduce consumption if they can't cut it fully. But it's just a very human reaction that we can expect to happen often.

I watched the documentary Dominion over three years ago now. We all knew that meat came from animals who were killed, but actually witnessing it and learning how so many aspects of the industry are not public knowledge and actually very hidden away, was pretty mind blowing. And until recently, one would have to dig pretty deep to find out this much out in such graphic detail. The activists risking their freedoms for potential jail time/heavy fines, to get all the footage from the last few years is admirable. I do street outreach with clips from this very documentary and I see the power it has on people, the emotion is real out there, people just need to see the truth to make a more informed decision about their lifestyle choices. When the end credits rolled, I went vegan on the spot and never looked back. The best decision I have made that aligns perfectly with my animal loving values.
