Oh my gosh. I love when people randomly have shin chan references/images in their content. Such an underrated show

During the past 10 years, I worked so hard on getting a cylinder that I kinda forgot *how* to make a bowl! The rim would always come out far too thin. So in a class I took about 3-4 years ago, I told the instructor that I needed to undo the groove that I'd etched into my muscle memory. She had me *start* with a V-Shaped bowl - i.e. throw with a V-shape in mind - then use a rib to shape *after* getting the V-shape. So, during that class, I decided to leave one of my bowls in a V-shape. I ended up with a foot that was a bit too thick, plus, by happy accident, the walls had dried leather-hard while the bottom was still leather-soft. So, I trimmed away some of the interior of the foot, then threw the remaining clay on the bottom into a V-shaped foot! It looks like a weird stemless martini-glass.

The irony is, I've only had one lesson that wasn't self-teaching. That bowl was a V-shape. So after that I had to learn how to make a bell bowl lol.
