oh, how I miss the Cooper House...I used to spend Sunday's there with my dad eating breakfast and listening to live music. my brother and I grew up there, but were in college in San Diego during the quake. I was on the phone with my step mom, brother was watching "the game" and she screamed, and all went dead. we spent the night driving up, when we got to Moss Landing we it was all dark and we had to drive thru fields to make it in. no cell phones, so finding all our family was a mess (dad lived in Love Creek, which was gone). My mom owned "Land Lady" property management, and she was in charge of the white tents across from her office. I was searching for the earthquake today, and saw this...wow. thank you for reminding me, how fast it can all happen. peace, love, and santa cruz dreams...

I was 18 when the quake happened. I lived in Santa Cruz at the time, but only now do I realize how much it affected me. Old downtown, I still love you.

Thanks for posting this video. I moved to Santa Cruz 2 months before the Earthquake and it's weird how little video there is from Santa Cruz County. We all stood together and we all rode the wave long enough and Survived ! Peace

I was born in Santa Cruz in 1981. And I was traumatized from the earthquake till this day. I miss Santa Cruz. But now I'm living in WA State. We have had some small earthquakes here around 3.5's. But I don't think anything bigger then a 5 since then. I came here in 1994. Thank you for sharing your video. Brings back so many memories. Flying kites with no shoes on on the beach going to the beach boardwalk every other weekend with my family we lived on mentel Avenue right down the road from Foster Freeze which is like a Dairy Queen. OMG YOUR KITTY IS SO BEAUTIFUL!! Maincoon OR a Norwegian Forest Cat?

Man, I wish Pacific Ave still looked like this... well, you know, without all of the damaged buildings and chainlink fences. It used to look so beautiful back when I was a kid, now it's just another metropolitan area.

Was Tom Lehrer in Santa Cruz during the earthquake?
