The crazy thing about Ningen Isu, aside from how incredibly GOOD they are and still went under the radar for so long, is that they are 35 year veterans with the enthusiasm and simple joy in making music of teenagers forming their first band. Frankly the world of music is better with them in it.

I had no idea this dude played in that band. He sure can shred! What I love most about him, is that he made his own pedals taylored to his own style. And when the other pedals couldn't hack it, he found a way around those limitations. Truly inspiring!

This setup looks extremely fun and versatile. Great options for tone and punch for pushing solos. I also really admire the tinkering aspect to create a smaller uni-vibe. 17:15 : "All the Pedals are completely analog, like the phaser, uni-vibe and overdrive. Those are made with parts from the 20th century. There is almost no modern technology in it. In short, our sound style is based on the old school rock when i was in my youth. British hard rock from the 1970s. After that it started changing to heavy metal. That type of hard rock sound, plus a bit of heavy metal flavor." Please, never abandon that heritage. I am not saying you shouldn't try out new things, but always remember and embrace that old school vibe. 18:30 "So i wanted to put a Japanese identity into it. It's a band that shows an example of how Japanese people rock. So, in fact, Ive been singing with Japanese lyrics for a long time." And please never abandon this either. Your musical skills put you up there with many hardrock and metal legends, your japanese singing and styles set you apart and make you stand out. (At least for a western guy like me).

That "amp cleanup" pedal is such a great idea! I play through a single channel high gain amp, and have to turn the gain on the amp down each time for a clean tone. Now I am using the Mooer Gas Station pedal as a "clean" preamp before the amp. But I would really like something that doesn't color my amps tone, much like his own pedal. Loved this video, and thanks for the Eng subs.

I get by with the volume knob to clean up the signal but going through a compressor pedal to even out the volume loudness. The compressor keeps me from having to use as much gain in the first place for soloing so my solos stay nice and punchy. If that’s not enough then you can use an EQ for your clean tone with the overall gain turned below zero. No need for a fancy sounding boutique pedal.
