EarthTalks are a series of conversations hosted by EarthWays about how we bring our way of life into accordance and harmony with the fundamental conditions for life on Earth. In this conversation with author and culture activist Stephen Jenkinson we talk about the cultural roots of the mess we are in, the way that grief may help us move differently towards the future and the meaning of elderhood today. You can find out more about Stephen Jenkinson's work at orphanwisdom.com/.

Interesting but rather mysterious interview. A bit too heavy on the death topic imo. It's one of my favourite topics but still I'd have loved to hear a bit more about the connection to Earth and its current state. I also wonder if I'm the only one who couldn't make much sense of many things Steven said? It looks like even Jeppe couldn't.. anyhow, it's definitely thought-provoking. The topic of grief.. I stumbled across it a few days ago already through another video. But this one didn't change my opinion: grief does not seem to be part of my true nature. Not in the way Steven seems to understand it. Wouldn't describe the current time as "tragic", too. I just feel that something - call it the "human endeavour" - is about to end, actually already has ended. An inevitable and necessary end. I already let go of it internally. Hence there's no need for grief. It may be yet another way my thinking differs from what is usually called "human".

Interesting how I’ve now come to your videos not to hear what you’ve got to say, but how you’re saying it…the words you choose to use, how you often deliberate on a particular word, and how you will chose and proceed to change a word that just didn’t make the cut in real-time. And, for god sakes, how is it that you recall a piece of poetry or lengthy quotes? Your brain has captured my attention…your ability to follow a thread without flaw (most of the time). Articulate doesn’t cover it. And, your listening skills iyw…beyond commendable.
