New to reel mowing and taking ownership of my lawn. Will be working with Bermuda sod that was laid down last October. I've literally lost track of how many Ron Henry videos I've watched this week, which should say it all. Excellent content and the interesting, well-spoken, expert delivery makes it worth my while. Thanks Ron!

I rock that exact same earthway spreader as you have, and I love it! The plastic wheels on the Scott's spreaders are just terrible, although I do understand people do have financial restraints. Keep grinding and growing your channel while providing us with the lawncare knowledge!!!! Great job!👍🏽👌🏽

Thanks Phil! Really appreciate the kind words. The Scotts line of spreaders aren't bad. I just haven't had good experiences with them. I'm sure there's a lot of people that use them very successfully. After running an Earthway, I can't see really going back. If anything, I'd upgrade to a newer one but honestly there's really no need. This one works very well and so far has been very reliable.

You have the big boy. :-) Perhaps one day I'll upgrade. Then I'll have to make a video called "The spreader I said I wasn't gonna buy but did anyways." :-D. The tires make all the difference in how nice it is to apply products to the lawn. I really enjoy using it.

Hey Ron, hope you’re doing well. I finally picked up an Andersons 2000SR for this season. The thing is a tank! Stainless steel frame, huge hopper and pneumatic tires. Also has a huge spread radius, for making less passes. It’s time to step up your game again and get one of these!
@RonHenry4 жыл бұрын
Holy cow Russell! You're not kidding about that thing being a tank. I've never even heard of that brand for spreaders. It's even more hard core than the Lesco. What do you think of it so far? So jealous! 😎 🙌
@russellfowler81864 жыл бұрын
It’s awesome. I was skeptical because of the price, but once you use it you see where the money went. The quality is 2nd to none. The spread pattern is super accurate and the hopper holds a ton of material. It even comes with a rain cover so you can spread in the rain and your material stays dry. I’ve used it a few times so far this year and I love it

My lawn is about 7k with obstacles. I bought the Scotts Pro Edgeguard, the version prior to the latest Elite model. It works great and unlike the elite model the version I have has the pneumatic tires and it’s night and day for bumpy terrain. Can’t beat $40 on Craigslist for practically brand new.

Nice. That’s an awesome find. I guess they’ve improved them over the years. My experience with them wasn’t very good. The Earthway has been rock solid for me though.

I bought one exactly like that. Any setting lower than 12 does not disperse any product. I have to constantly shake it as I’m rolling it and then it shoots out uneven. Any ideas on how to fix that? The product seems to just sit below the pin.

Hi, I too enjoy Ron's videos! Question: is there a conversion chart showing EV-N-Spred spreader, with Scott's products? That is, if Scott's product says use setting of "3", what's the setting for EV-N-Spred spreader? Appreciate your help!

It depends on the product Lou. On our product descriptions, we have conversions for Scott's spreaders. For example this: golfcourselawn.store/products/country-club-16-0-8-humic-max-and-mesa%C2%AE-by-lebanonturf-sgn-150

My front and back is only 7000sqft, I think the scotts work well for the smaller lawns like I have, it doesn't get much of a beating in one season.
@RonHenry4 жыл бұрын
I can totally see that. On smaller lawns without a bunch of hills the Scotts spreader probably works well. I should have pointed that out in the video. I didn't want to turn it into a Scotts bashing video. Just wanted to share that it wasn't a fit for me.

Great video, I have the Scotts the one with the side blocker. I got it around $70 bucks still works ok. Looking to up grade, I watch a couple of videos on the Anderson 2000sr. The price is up there, but the quality people really like. They say it's the Mercedes of the spreaders. 😂 Thanks
@RonHenry2 жыл бұрын
Nothing wrong with upgrading Eric. Here's something I'd do. Look at the product label for products you're interested and see if the Anderson spreader is listed there. If you're getting a new one, might as well ensure you're not going to have to do spreader conversions just to use the products you want.

I have that same Earthway and really like it! My only complaint (and this is minor and doesn’t effect the use of it) is the foam handle is tearing in a few places. Looks like yours is too. Shows that we use them hard I guess.
@RonHenry4 жыл бұрын
Definitely B Schrum. Mine is tearing like you say. I supposed if it gets too bad I can always tape it or add new foam. Outside of that the spreader has been awesome. Rock solid product in my opinion that works pretty well for the price you pay. 😎🌿

Ron I have the Scott's elite I like it it's not the air tires but very close., Its like sponge tires. To be honest with you I don't use it much anymore. I am spraying alot more. Only because I live on a slope. It seems like every time I spread granular I'd get a big monsoon and I know I got a lot of wash away.
@RonHenry4 жыл бұрын
You're spraying your fertilizer these days instead of using a granular? The next time you aerate, you might be able to get away with using the spreader again since there'll be cavities to prevent the fertilizer from washing away quite so easily. Which fert are you spraying?
@randyman89844 жыл бұрын
@@RonHenry I've been using the Greene county fertilizer products and I just sprayed 15-0-0, it's 2 and 1/2 gallons I got from tractor supply for $30. He has 6% iron too. Enough to last me 2-3 seasons. Also bought a gallon of of sea kelp from Amazon for $30. I do have 10 bags of milorganite that I will be using. The aeratng and then putting it down is a great idea.

Ron, Great channel, you are the go to guy for lawn info. Thank you! Two quick questions if you have time. 15000 SQ feet, would you recommend the 2050P or the 2600A? How do you gauge the spacing when you spread, so as not to skip or overlap?
@RonHenry4 жыл бұрын
Heya Brian, Sure. I'm happy to answer any questions you have. I don't see them in this comment. Can you post them here? 😎👍
@RonHenry4 жыл бұрын
Seeing the questions now Brian. For 15000 square feet, I’d go with the larger spreader. The 2050P which is an 80lb unit. amzn.to/2SKltPA As far as spacing, you kind of learn from using the spreader. It casts at least an 8 foot wide path depending on the product you’re putting down so you’d want to build in the just a bit of overlap. You’ll get better at it with time. Let me know if I can help with anything else.

Hey Ron, great video. I am thinking about upgrading from my Scotts spreader to this one. The only question I have (sorry if you mentioned this already in the video) is does this spreader have a side guard that you can turn on when making trim passes? If not, how do you recommend dealing with spreading next to sidewalk, driveways, etc.?
@RonHenry2 жыл бұрын
You can close off some of the holes to prevent throwing onto the sidewalk Alexander. I typically just blow off hardscape once I'm done anyways.

I bought this one and I am not a big fan. It only throws straight ahead and to the right side unless I am doing something wrong. It does not spread in a fan pattern straight ahead like the model with the bucket hopper that you can choose the pattern
@RonHenry3 жыл бұрын
i Smurfe04. Make sure the trim guard isn't closing off one of the holes. I believe one is closed off. There's a flap you need to rotate underneath the hopper to make sure all the holes are open. Once you do that, it should throw material everywhere. Hope this helps.
