I thinking about it, I believe the first boss was a jab at #Nintendo because of how much the guy kind of looked like Mario. Queen Slug-For-A-Butt was pretty much a throwaway end boss. Bizarre, but disappointing. Psycrow is a fitting rival for Jim, given that crows eat worms, but you don't really fight him unless you're no good at Andy Asteroids. Evil the Cat I thought was the coolest boss design in this game. Won't you agree?

It's an underwater level. If Labyrinth Zone in the original Sonic the Hedgehog taught me anything, it's to hate underwater levels.

I played through this game a lot on the SNES and DOS versions - I got pretty good at the pod segments, made racing through the long one really fun.

Finally completed this today after many attempts. I needed plenty of lives and extra continues! It's got to be one of the hardest games I've ever played. For some reason I found Snot a Problem Round 3 to be the toughest level!

Snot a problem 3 makes you feel like you’re battling a actual person on-line, the AI is very smart there, I mean, the only way I was able to beat Snot 3 was by triggering a glitch where Major Mucus got stuck on a wall and started hitting it repeatedly until the rope broke. This level was so hard compared to all the other that after finally beating it I was able to beat the ENTIRE rest of the game in one shot. THAT’S how much that level held me back.

You can use the energy shield to bump psycrow behind you if that helps. 18:40 - oof, there;s a pump through the wall to your left, it'll only give you 70 seconds, but that's more than enough by that point. 31:10 - You can whip those eyeball hatches shut IIRC 34:40 - You can whip psycrow while he's fluttering to do extra damage, and also shoot him while he's stunned, albiet, for less return than the former.

I'm currently replaying all the classics that I've never got to finish. Finished Castlevania yesterday, even made a save file before the battle with Death and I fought and defeated it 3 times in a row, just to challenge myself a bit more. But this game is just too much. I'm half way through now, and after seeing the rest of the levels, I quit. Too hard to be fun. Plus, it's all about trial and error, no reflexes can help you with the random shit this game throws at you. I'll just keep the 1st half of the game as a childhood memory, that's the best I can do for this unfair game.

If you're really struggling that much you can always use the extra lives code or extra continues code like I did.That's how I beat this game.

Wow... the first game is a lot darker than Earthworm JIm 2 and Earthworm Jim 3D, which are the only EWJ games I've played. Also, Earthworm Jim 3D is unironically fantastic. EDIT: I've just realized that Earthworm Jim 3D draws a lot more inspiration from EWJ1 than EWJ2. Same design for Jim, health atoms come from enemies and fly towards you and marbles (EWJ1 had marbles in the Psycrow races).

Yeah, part 1 was so much better, part 2 was just a bunch of garbage gimmicks, amped up grossout, and stripped down levels. The inflated head stage for instance was supposed to be a full blown Carnival with an Evil the Cat fight. What it ended up as, is the equivalent of level 5 just being the fans and grinders section.

I always hated the Down the Tubes level. All because of that damn air bubble sub. Controlling it was rough and you have a time limit. And you can't smash into too many things or it shatters.
