Sequoia ABS Codes, Skid Control ECU, and Zero Point Calibration

My 2003 Sequoia suddenly had VSC and ABS lights on so I found a way to read the codes, figure OHD the issue, make the repair and do a zero point calibration.

My 2002 Sequoia has had the traction control lights on for four years and the Brake and ABS lights for about two years. I just unhooked the old yaw rate sensor to keep the VSC from kicking on at random times. This summer, I finally put in a new yaw rate sensor and an Ebay traction control/ABS computer. The video you created to share your work was a huge help. Pairing the module to the car and completing the zero-point calibration worked just as shown here, with the exception of one pin location. For the first time since I've had this Sequoia, there are no extra lights on the dash. Thank you!

​@@royceschnepp150 Did you find a translate computer? I have C1203, C1223 & C1241 - parking brake light, ABS light, and VSC Off and VSC Trac all on in 2002 Sequoia. My ABS module # is the old one to 89541-0C050

For any future reference the brake light flashing code 42 is also no communication with abs module. I used a tech stream and couldn’t get it to connect to abs system at all then started digging in TIS and found a full book on codes, diagrams, wiring on these issue lol

Yes. Whatever button is next to the 4WD button. It could be a differential lock button or VSC button.

Great video Dustin, just found you in fact, so I have an 06 sequoia with the vsc/trac and engine light on, changed out air filter, mass air flow, plugs, coils, injectors, 02 censors, rear carbon box, pcv, but still on !! Also a smell of gas when driving through the exhaust, any ideas mate ?

Well, if you were to install it and then take it to them and just have them do a zero point calibration, they wouldn’t know any different. THEY just won’t install a used one, mainly because if they do the work, and the part fails in a month, the majority of people blame them and expect them to fix it.

I don’t know for certain, but I’d recommend doing it just to ensure that things are working properly

@@DustinRogersinMO so I tried it and I didn't get the beep. Same when I tried to register the new vsc. But my abs and brake light are off now. I just have the vsc lights on for steering angle sensor malfunction. Thanks for the helpful video! BTW, on my 2002, the vsc computer is a bit bigger with 4 screws. I had to unbolt the 3 bolts for the module to get room to get the computer out.

@@DustinRogersinMO I redid the zpc and this time I got the beep!! I may have had the wrong pins jumped the first time. I tried again to register the new vsc and did not get a beep. I'm pretty happy that my abs is working. Thanks again.

On the OBD2, which wire is CG?

@@DustinRogersinMO I was asking because mine is wired basically backwards from that diagram. Instead of pins 16,15,14,13 & 7,6,5,4 like the DLC3 diagram mine is wired 12,11,10,9 & 5,4,3,2.

@@risukiarie157 you may have a faulty VSS (vehicle speed sensor) or possibly one or more wheel speed sensors that are giving inaccurate readings causing the ABS to engage
