The Dutch EAS alarm is even funnier nowadays, as there is a nationwide phone ban in schools. People put their phones in their lockers, so when the EAS plays there's also an alert on your phone, meaning that if you're in the halls you just hear emergency alarms for 10 minutes straight.

I moved to Tuscaloosa Alabama when I was 18 in 2005. And when hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, we had 5 or more tornadoes touchdown and we heard the loud ass alarms for about a week and we had no power or AC/Heat.... it was so damn crazy and I hate that many people's lives were taken away.

In the netherlands this alarm is tested every month on the first monday on the month, but it has been replaced by an alert on your phone which i personally think is terrible for any other country because almost everyone has a phone here.

In Greece we have both real alarms and phone alarms at the same time. The real ones are usually used in cases like war or a potential tsunami or extra. Phone ones are used for the above and to warn people of severe weather conditions like extreme thunderstorms, fires in big forest areas snowstorms and others. Our real sirens are usually tested twice a year
