Fun fact-that snow tool was originally created in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and the original tool is called a “Yooper Scooper” (Yooper is a name for those who live in the UP of Michigan). This tool is excellent with the large amounts of fluffy, lake effect snow we get here next to Lake Superior. There was a need for a tool like this to move all the snow without straining your back. I imagine Finlanders have found it useful with a very similar climate.

I spent a year in Finland as an exchange student the year before I joined the Marines. My foster sister over there and I split the chores we were given into outside chores and inside chores. She HATED outside chores and I loathed inside chores so we agreed to split them so that she never had to do outside chores and I never had to do inside chores. So I did all the snow removal, wood chopping, horse feeding, sauna maintenance and getting it up and going however many times a week we wanted sauna and garden stuff and so on. We had one of those snow plow deals you showed in the video. I spent a lot of hours behind one of those because we had a LOT of snow to clear almost daily(very rural Pohjois-Savo in the early 90s). They work fantastic for the types of chores you showed in the video. I'm in NW Montana now and I have too much snow to clear from my house down to the road(about 1/2 a mile) plus the yard and the road down to my paddocks etc. so now days I do it with a back blade on one of the tractors but just like you mentioned, you have to get on it right after it is done falling or you will end up with a mess.

Howdy MT neighbor 👋🏻👋🏻 First, thank you for your service 🇺🇸 and thank you for sharing your experience with one of these! They really do work well and so far we haven’t had hardly any snow in the area of MT I’m in. Thanks for watching and take care ✌🏻

@@joey_the_farmdawg Hey thanks for the howdy. I watched some of your other videos this morning. I think I am probably just a bit west of you(40 - 45 miles) so we have the same amount of snow right now more or less. I did get another inch to inch and a half this morning so I will be plowing snow again this evening. I just want the ground to freeze so I can stop dealing with all the mud under the snow.

@@joey_the_farmdawg Back in now from plowing my never ending road from my place down to the paved road. Yes, we are not far apart. If you draw a straight line west by north west from roughly where you are at I'm about 42 miles away on that line. I don't want to be more specific than that as you probably don't want the entire internet showing up at your door wanting to see your dogs and chickens, and I don't want them showing up on my doorstep wanting to see my horses and cows :) LOL! I actually had a blue state refugee who was buying some stuff from me earlier this year ask if he could come out and watch me work because he had never seen farming or ranching in real life. I took a hard pass on that one, I'm pretty introverted and that didn't sound like my idea of a good time. Kind of creeped me out...I mean who asks to do that?!?

Thank you Joey. I bought one tonight. Garant 24 in. W X 61 in. L Poly Sleigh Shovel. $64.99 at the hardware store. Should be great for snow thicker than a leaf blower can sweep, and for less than firing up the snowblower. Another storm coming.

As someone that used to work for one of the big name satellite TV installers, I'd personally recommend against Pam cooking spray. Somewhere, someone told people it was a good idea to spray on the satellite dishes. It wasn't. It'll build up in spots, get tacky over time (when it gets warm out and you forget it's on the shovel), makes a bit of a mess and be a bit of a pain in the ass to get off later. Unless you're worried about it affecting the animals, I'd use some sort of synthetic spray lubricant instead.
@joey_the_farmdawg16 күн бұрын

Happy New Year. For such „surface“ skin issues, you might maybe try Honeybased creme or raw Manukkahoney. It should help to heal very fast and is basically natural antibacterial Wounddressing.
