I’ve been working on this film for some time, hoping to inspire at least one person experiencing some form of hardship. Last Friday, I reached the second lowest point in my life. The camera that was used to make this film was stolen, and I’ve been struggling to find the motivation to get back on my feet. It wasn’t just a $4,500 camera. It was my first dream camera that I worked endlessly for. I can’t imagine the toll it had on my health having to balance three jobs during my university years and the personal hardships I had at the time, just to afford it. Not to mention all the memories I’ve captured, the opportunities that were made.
One of the things that I’ve realized from this setback, is the amount of support I have from friends, family, and strangers. Messages like “I hope you find your camera! I love seeing your work and I want to continue seeing your content!” is extremely humbling and inspiring. This is when I realized my goals to create a community and to inspire others, was actually… working.
I’ll find a way to recover from this. Thank you for believing in me.
Remember that during your darkest times, there’s always positives in the negatives. Realize that and life will get easier.
