I do the same! Every year I tell myself to pick less, but do I listen to me? No! This is a great way to use surplus apples. It would be great over pound cake, too❤

So I do something very similar using unpeeled Galas. I core and slice just like you did Sam, but I also slice yellow onion. I fry the apple slices and the onion slices in butter, brown sugar, cinnamon and Cardamom. Then I serve with Pork, Chops/Tenderloin/Roast. Much better than applesauce. I'm thinking that I'll have to do it without the onion and serve as a dessert. But try it with a good pinch of Cardamom, wonderful. But then, I just love Cardamom! Thanks for the upload.

I’m so jealous that you live in apple picking country. I live in the south in stifling heat, humidity and mosquitoes country. Do the apple farms in your village grow different types of apples? When I make a pie, I use about four different types because they bake differently and at least one of them turns to mush (as you mentioned) and that’s a good thing. One of these days, I’m going to make it up north to go apple picking because I’ve always wanted to do it since I was a kid. Nothing grows down here well in the heat except weeds, mildew and the aforementioned mosquitoes. Cool video!

You can get, usually at least, 5 or 6 different types of apples in the orchards near me. If the bees would leave my apple trees alone I'd have 3 different types at home. :)

Can you do this recipe and use as pie filling ?
@SugarSpunRunАй бұрын
Hmm I haven't tried it, but I think if you were to bake this after cooking it you would have super mushy apples.

@@SugarSpunRun You won't be sorry. It's not difficult, and once you've done the classic caramelised apple, the possibilities are endless: pears in red wine, figs with balsamic ginger glaze, and savoury tarte tatin is also a thing.
