It would probably take me all of that 2.9 hours to get her done, for sure. You are extremely efficient and do excellent work!

I just ordered an alternator for my 06 Tundra, which is basically the same procedure. The old alternator's pulley wheel froze up. Not sure if it is a bearing or the stator. Thanks for showing all the steps involved. It will help me muddle through the process!

I will never understand why Toyota puts their alternators on the bottom and the starter underneath the intake manifold
@737mechanic Жыл бұрын
There are a few manufacturers that put the starter under the intake. As reliable as starters are now they at least last longer than the 30k miles that they used to in fact sometimes they last the life of the car. But to be honest I would rather change a starter under the intake than some of the starters that are buried under a ton of crap with limited access. Intakes are easy to remove and you get to work from the top. As for alternators. I have had to drop the subframe down in order to get alternators out so this one was easy compared to some I have done.

They last at least 250k miles ...which is excellent

You gave that broken n^pple the JB Weld treatment didn't you. I think I seen a big wad of white goop on there. There's nothing more permanent than a temporary fix. :)

After I found out what it did I figured it wasn't that important so I cleaned it up and gooped it up with some high temp epoxy and I think it is probably stronger than the original because it now has a smooth transition into the main body instead of a 90-degree angle. The SUV has over 200k on it so I told the owner who I know very well what happened and if it ever fails I will be glad to replace it.

Same procedure for a 2003?

I am not sure, if you look at your alternator and if it all looks the same then go for it.

How many miles on that Seqoui?
@NYPATRIOTBXАй бұрын
Just did this today to my 02 sequoia, had the original alternator. I actually did what you did but I had to go under the truck to loosen one of the bolts up because it was that tight. Great vid by the way, don’t know why more people change out the tundra/sequoia alternator like this.

I was skeptical of my ability to change an alternator, but after watching your video I went out and did it. The hardest part was getting the new belt on. Thank you for the clear advice.
