Ok, about that automatic, there is a hill assist switch, it looks like a truck on a hill. If you flip that switch, the hill assist will go off, and you can feather the pedal and it won't jump.

158 runs into Ballenger from midland but you may have also gone down 87 as well. I've lived in the midland odessa area for the last 6 years. But im with swift out of Lancaster texas but use odessa as my maling address. Also as a side note. The swift trucks do not make that God awful buzzing sound if you're too close to the line. No, it beeps at us if we get too close to a car. And in the bigger cities where people cut you off constantly good God I've wanted to just leave my truck on the side of the road and hitchhike home lol

Dave you're doing an awesome job backing. And these trucks with automatic transmissions are lurching crow hopping pieces of crap. I've driven manual transmissions for years. Had to drive one of those crappy automatics for 6 months and never could get used to it. It does make you feel like you're a rooky. Haaaaa...... But you're doing great my friend. Keep making these videos. I'm hooked.

The loud beep is when you trigger the lane control a certain number of times within a certain amount of time. It's easy to "turn off". Just put a piece of tape over the sensor on your windshield on the outside. Or, slip a business card between the sensor and the inside of the windshield.
@jamesbamford65373 жыл бұрын
Dave. If you have the I-shift auto gearbox in the States like we have in the Volvos here in the UK you would never want a manual again. They are seamless in there gear changing and don't mess about at all. Keep the videos coming mate can't get over how big and wide open some of the yards you guys have out there.

According to the manufacturer, you should have 2 reverse and a creep mode. Switch to manual next time you need to back up somewhere and give it a try in reverse1, reverse2 or that mode, it might work.
@brettgillmore58254 жыл бұрын
I wash t680s at my company for a living while I work on getting my CDL. As far as I'm concerned theres only one reverse gear. Even when put in manual mode I couldn't get into a 2nd reverse. I could be totally wrong but I'm pretty sure theres only one reverse.

@@corymcdermott5096 they have manual mode as I prefer it over the full auto mode. Either we dont use the 2nd reverse or I just dont know I'm doing wrong to get it into the 2md reverse
@corymcdermott50964 жыл бұрын
@@brettgillmore5825 For the manual mode, a lot of big companies disable it so the drivers can't use it. I don't know if CFI keeps it available. I worked for one company years ago, that disabled the manual and performance modes. Had that truck locked in economy mode. On my Freightliner, to get to Reverse 2, I just upshift while in reverse. Only needed really if you're bobtail.

Greetings Dave. I was watching some of your older videos and came across this one. When you made reference to the loud beeping noise for when you may have swerved, I think it was because that tractor trailer was coming the opposite direction on that two lane road. When two tractor trailers pass each other on a two-lane at high speed you get a draft which could Rock the truck and cause that to go off I would think. Just my opinion. Be safe out there driver.

Backing and moving slow issues, have nothing to do with being an automated transmission. It's the fact that your truck doesn't have a "creep mode" like the Detroit Diesel automated trans. Don't stress about it. That's why the they put the big rubber bumpers on the docks. If someone says something to you about, tell them you were field testing the bump stops.
