Hi, just a little tip for who has problems in cleaning the beeswax. I use pyrex measuring jug to boil the beeswax, when I finish, I just reheat it in microwave for 10-15 second then wipe it off using wet wipes straight away then wash the jug with hot soapy water. Hope it helps 🙏

From the candles that you used in this video/the amount of wax: If you burned them majority of the day how long would they last approximately until all 4 were gone? I burn candles everyday as worship throughout my day. And it's scary the education how I'm polluting my air! So want to start making beeswax candles. Also is it possible to reuse some of the beeswax from the old candles? Would that still have the same effect of releasing healthy ions in the air?

Made some candles today for family, using 500 grams of paraffin wax (beeswax candles on hold lol ) in a Pyrex measuring jug.. Fragrance oil was 7% working out at 35 gram weight (so using this formula is 500 x 0.07 = 35 ) so 1000 gram ( 1 kilo ) of wax, the oil would be doubled to 70 grams and so on.. I use lollipop (popsicle ) sticks to centre the wicks by drilling a hole in the middle (or use a sharp bradawl ) temperature wise I have a hand held infrared thermometer ( cheap to buy, it serves two purposes.. for making my own chocolate as well as toying with making candles :) ) heating the wax to melt point about 70 Celcius then off the heat adding the oil /stirring / letting cool to about 62 Celcius and poured into (warmed) glass jars .. once cool enough I use nail clippers to trim the wicks.. all done. The kitchen smelled so nice all day :) the fragrance oil I used is called Bibliotheque from Cosy Owl UK if want to check them out .

Hello. I hope all is well. I wanted to ask. From someone with more experience than myself. How can you actually make these candles more fragrant? I failed at creating a scented beeswax candle and it came out more like the natural wax scent.
@ouroilyhouse4 жыл бұрын
You have to add a lot of essential oils to smell them. I prefer to make candles without scent and then use a diffuser for scent.
@karijaneify4 жыл бұрын
Many essential oils are actually toxic when burned. Sorry, I don't remember which ones. DO NOT add more and more essential oil to the wax to get a stronger throw because they can cause the wax to catch fire! There is a limit to how much oil a wax can hold - and each type of wax holds a different percentage. Essential oils are also very difficult to use productively in candles due to cost and amount of oil needed to make a decent scent throw. I don't know if they're safer to use in wax melts however, so maybe something for you to consider?

To prevent tunneling, all you need to do is burn your candle long enough each time so that the entire top surface of wax is melted. This is especially important the first time you burn your candle! How long that takes depends mostly on the size of the candle. Wick size is also important.

A better way to keep the wick in there and get it in the middle is to get 2 pop sickle sticks and a bobby pin for each candle your going to make, place the pop sicks one on each side on top of the candle jar, then take the bobby pin and place the wick inside the bobby pin to keep it straight that way each end of the bobby pin is touching one of the pop sickle sticks. This is the method I use when making candles and the wicks are always straight and its much easier to manage.

A simpler way to keep the wicks centered is to use a clothes- pin to grab the wick and place the pin across the top of the jar or fasten a pair of chopsticks together with rubber bands with a small piece of card used as a spacer to keep the chopsticks apart and then threading the wick through the space between them. The other thing is that beeswax has itself a wonderful aroma. seems a bit like gilding the lily to add fragrance to that wax..

@@ouroilyhouse Cornell University School of Vet medicine, (and other sources that I've forgotten) now strongly advise against ALL essential oil use with cats -including diffusing. Cats lack the enzyme necessary to break down and release the constituents of essential oils, which are stored in the renal system and liver. This leads to organ failure which can take anywhere from weeks to years to show up - and it's too late by the time cats show symptoms.

Beeswax isn't really that hard to clean. You simply must use a heat gun to heat it up and melt off any excess, then promptly, while it is still hot, use paper toweling to wipe out the excess. At the end, still while warm (forget trying to clean it cold) use MOLD CLEANER (widely available from candle stores and a little goes a long way!) and this will remove the wax residual and also residual dye or scent. This is sufficient for candle making even with other waxes, but some people want to go one more step, using plain rubbing alcohol to clean out the residual mold cleaner. This dries cleaner without residual oils that many people don't want to add in to their candles. Once you have done (all carefully and thoroughly) you can actually wash the container in regular dish detergent. The standard melting pots have no seams to hide residual wax. If you plan to make beeswax candles, finding coffee cans and other containers to throw away can end up being more expensive. (I keep bees, and make candles with several waxes..) If you do all of this, you could prepare food out of the same container. The secret is do the cleaning pretty warm.

@@Tah_Dot Heres all I know it is important that you choose the correct wick size for the width of the container you are using. You can find charts online to help you with this. Look up "choosing the correct candle wick size". The goal is to get the melted pool of wax to extend all the way to the sides of your container and to be about a half an inch deep, with no carbon buildup. The flame should stable and not flickering. Then you'll know you chose the right size.

After researching I found doterra oils to be the more pure and a very trustworthy company. I have a whole video on why I chose doterra you can find on my channel. If you have more specific questions feel free to email me!

Our Oily House - thank you so much Laura! Your help is much appreciated. I'm not sure if I can trust Young Living 100%. There's a lot of confusing info, especially when it comes to the legal battle where some of the YL team broke off and started doterra. I need to research more to understand who the "good guys" are...haha. That is important to me. Thank you again for taking the time to reply! I am going to check out your video on why you chose doterra. Hope you Have a wonderful day! ❤️

also make sure you let the glue dry before you put the beeswax in.
