I live in the Central Australian desert and we have similar heat temperatures to Vegas. I am finding your videos so helpful and appreciate you sharing your knowledge. Food here is very expensive and often old and dead tasting by the time we get them. So growing as much organic food as I can for our health and save money too. It spring here now but already very hot. was shocked to have a huge success with my cauliflowers this year and when I have finished I am going to attempt to make sauerkraut with the leaves. An Australian native called warrigal greens grow amazing and we always have fresh greens.

I'm in hot central valley CA and having a fruitful summer growing kabocha and butternut squashes. They were sowed from seeds of store bought squashes. Thinning the first wave of male flowers really helped the females to develop ✨

I use rosemary as a Christmas tree as it looks so similar to a pine tree. Not very big, but does the job and after you can continue to grow & use it. Gives a great scent when you brush against it.

I did that for several years until my rosemary plant died off. It was great though... I would put one red ball ornament and call it my Charlie Brown tree. Lol

Thanks for the list of seeds to grow in high heat. I’m in Winnemucca Nevada & last summer we were in the 100+ many days. Topped to 120 for a short time & surrounding fire smoke didn’t help😫. Hopefully this summer will be better! Have a great day 👵🏻👩🌾❣️

I grow Chinese flat chives in north Texas and they're delicious, especially in scallion pancakes. I use them to substitute green or spring onions and am drying them this year. They grow well in compost or in clay and sand, mostly sun.

The other day while cleaning up my garden I noticed a bulging under some black tarp with a heavy pot over them.. I cut it open and it was a stray Sunchoke that had been growing there. I don't know how long it was there, it had to be a few years. There were so many. It just wanted to grow but had nowhere to escape. I replanted them, and hopefully, they will grow. Nothing kills them. So put them where you really want them.

Hey John 👋😊 Love your channel! You have been my inspiration to get back into gardening after an injury forced me into retirement. Needless to say, I just bought an acreage in Western NV, between Pahrump & Vegas. I have planted multiple fruit trees 🌳 and finding that some of my leaves are turning a light green & some aren't fruitful after 3 or 4 yrs. I've used worm castings, wood chips, let the ground cover grow to help, I'm at a loss 🤷♀️ The pistachios seem to go crazy, but the nuts won't open? Any advice is helpful! Keep up the great channel!! ❤😊😁

You must have overwatered it, and the roots died off such that there is not enough roots to absorb nutrients. Let the soil dry more before watering again.

What’s your thoughts on a yard in Phoenix Arizona with a pool 🏊♀️? And garden space?
@bostonchoir2 жыл бұрын
You know that it is cool in wooded area while hot in the city. Suppose trees are the key for that and wouldn't it help to cancel out the heat if lots of tall trees are planted in public spaces in the city? Well, I guess scarcity of water is a problem.
