Great info thanks for sharing. We love the dragonflys in our garden but if we do an outside goldfish breeding pool we'll definitely do a net cover like you recommend to keep them and other critters from being a problem.

Great video definitely most informative on KZbin. Once I breed my goldfish and I have the eggs do I just put them in the pool or do I have to have an air pump in the pool as well to get them to hatch

Both work, they need water movement to stop them going nasty though.

Hi Nice Video, I managed to Save some eggs and put them in a tub, its been almost 2 weeks now and most of them are doing fine, but i have notice 1 or 2 dead ones every once and a while and i'm worried it will kill them all off, what are the possible problems of why some are dying, i have a airstone in there, the water levels are the right height. what do i do.
@ADHDbuilt
@ADHDbuilt 7 жыл бұрын
Hi. The airstone might be your problem if they are tiny, they get stuck to the air bubbles and get stuck on the top of the water. Remove it until they are a bit bigger.

Hi, Just wondering if thge outdoor breeding will also work in cold weather? My ryukin dumped lots of eggs in May (in Sydney Australia). I am keeping the fries indoor at the moment, but I like the idea of keeping them in a large volume of water outdoor like what you have done. Less work and no messing around with brine shrimps hatching. Thanks, AT

Colum Black-Byron well this female ranchu I have only lay eggs in the morning around the am. Missed at least 4 batch. I lay out a plastic container holding my female and two other males and by morning I just move them inside. Atm I'm feeding micro worm I'm not having any chance hatching bbs but so far so good beside culling.

That was very interesting ! Thanks.. I started our pond in summer 2015, and my friend gave me 7 of her best goldfish! Strong and about 4-6 or so inches. Within months I had fry .... lots of fry .... then last summer I got more fry. So right now ... we have fry of all sizes from tiny 1'' things to about 4 or so inches. ALL are black.. with that bronzy tinge on their bellies. I keep expecting them to change to what I think of as adult colours .. but no! The originals were all orange, some with white tales and one with two white spots that grew to form a white 'saddle' (not raised) ... Can you tell me ... are they likely EVER to become golden ? In my friends pond none of her fish are black ! Thanks for your help from the Brit in northern Portugal !

1 - Do daphnia eat algae? 2 - So you just put the fertilized eggs in a system with air stones and daphnia? What temp and what PH? 3 - Do you have to protect eggs from sunlight? ty
@ADHDbuilt
@ADHDbuilt 7 жыл бұрын
+Jacob Furnish hi Jacob. The daphnia eat the algae, a lot of it. I didn't measure the temp, but it was standard spring temps. When it's warm enough for them to chase, the eggs will be fine. pH was rather high, sat on high 7. Didn't protect from sunlight, was fine.

It usually happens when the water warms up, you can trick them into it if you have a heater, but otherwise when it warms up. But they'll start chasing each other, and won't spawn until they are ready.

I live in the tropics where i do not experience seasonal changes like you do. I however have the issue of mosquitoes breeding in fry ponds and occasional hurricanes and heavy rainfall. Daphnia and other little stuff you would use is not readily available in Jamaica. Instead I make Infusia from vegetable cutting( just that it smells terrible).
