I've been thinking about doing this for two years and your video pushed me over to doing it. Have not driven on them yet. I hoping for less bounce in the rear so it might take a bit of pressure off the hitch when the heavy ebikes are racked up. I've read that the hitch can handle 350 lbs but once you mount the rack which sticks out a good 15 inches the leverage effect can damage the hitch. Apparently it's not super solid underneath. We use support straps from the door hinges to the middle of the bike rack to help. Thanks again for your review of these bump stops.

Especially when you look at the sticker price of these units - after changing just about everything else on the van you would think this would be the easiest thing for the manufacturer. Good job guys Sumo springs seem to be the way to go here.

Keep sharing. These do help for clearance on bouncy roads. Must have on most Thor B class as Thor does not upgrade the suspension. Will make the ride much stiffer and can cause things inside to raddle. Now time to do the front spacers to provide a little more clearance.

Did the yellow springs drastically change the handling of the vehicle over time?? I am planning to install a set on my self converted Ford Transit and looking to see if I should go with the high density yellow, or back off slightly and use the black ones?
@Vancaskeys Жыл бұрын
The yellow will make the frame and body quite Rigid. On the highway they are amazing because they prevent body sway. It depends on what you’re wanting. I would choose yellow over black for my needs. Hope this helps!
@dirkelber9111 Жыл бұрын
@@Vancaskeys Thank you for the input as that is exactly what I wanted to find out. Most of our driving is highway type (at least when I have a passenger and dogs onboard) - and I wanted to make sure that we dampen any of the sway and bouncing to make smoother ride for the six dogs crated in the rear. Also wanted to see if this change would give me that 1/4' to 1/2 lift in the back to prevent the grounding out when I back into the driveway. From all that I have seen it should provide both. Btw, great channel - really enjoy following along on the adventures.

@@Vancaskeysdid you choose the yellow ones based on your Class B? I see they have 3 different colors. I’ve seen other videos and on more than one they took off one of those black “spacers” but you did just fine leaving both on.
@sasstewart1222Ай бұрын
You scraped because you didn't leave any space between the bump stop and the frame. (hence the reason its lifted). Manufacturer recommends .5" to 1" of space otherwise the ride is very harsh.

I don’t understand why most of the install videos show someone crawling under the vehicle to do this job. I did mine today. I jacked up the vehicle at the front leafspring mount and removed the wheel for access. Much easier than crawling under it and safer too. You are not under if if it somehow falls. It took me about 45 minutes total to do the rear. The manual states only tighten it hand tight. No need to use the filter wrench.
