It looked like a good root you never know it might have grown back. I always try to put the root in a 25gal. Pot for at least a year. Give it a try

If you would have just pruned that plant and kept pruning at the right way it wouldn't have been that straggly. Normally if you prune it back the next year it's grown in rhododendrons are very Hardy plants.

Just be careful with that farm jack because when it gets alot of pressure on hit that handle can fly out off your control and bust you in the head
