This is the easiest way to change out your awning fabric. Look no more, for this is the easiest way…..and safest way. Don’t pay anyone to do it. This man here has probably saved thousands of dollars for a lot of people, not to mention headaches, costly mistakes and injuries. Please share and like his video. Thank you sir. 🤜🏽💥🤛🏽

I’d wondered why there weren’t holes already in the end caps to do it this way and had considered it…especially since my caps don’t have the holes to accommodate a pick/screw driver to prevent the non cam lock end from unwinding. Thanks so much for creating the video and posting it up! You sir have provided many with some great insight and confidence! 🙌

well, I tell ya.getting it off the trailer was easy,all we did was pull.However getting it off the roller part was very hard,no amount of silicone helped,we had to pull it off a little at a time.Thanks for the video,I'm sure it helped someone.

Wow Dude, I can not THANK YOU enough for your video! I was worried about changing the awning on my RV, but you saved the day. Listen folks this is by far the easiest way to do this. I used 2 saw horses and sprayed soapy water in the slots. My wife and I took may an hour and it was done. Soooo glad I saw your video!!! THANKS

I ordered a replacement awning from Dominic that was to be identical to the first one. Followed your method and it worked great except that I removed the roller because I had to insert two places into the roller and it was too unwieldy when still mounted. Worked like a charm. New awning is thicker material, so it didn't lay down against the trailer when stored like the other one did. It will be fine, though. Thanks!

I always pull the entire awning, pull off the arms and fabric. Then I can check the tortion springs before winding the awning and hanging it. If it is in roll down then it is safe after you wind it as long as you don't hit the cam lock.

Great idea only one problem unless someone already brought it to your attention. You put the press in cord on wrong side. The press in cord usually goes on the valence not the main awning track.
@slockfox
@slockfox 10 ай бұрын
Thanks for your input. Could you provide a link to this information? I cant find it. There would have been no way for me to have done it that way with this fabric. The valance tube was pre sewn in. Thanks again.
@chrisappel8242
@chrisappel8242 10 ай бұрын
@slockfox it was another you tube video that showed how to do it. But that being said it really depends on how much valence your awnings manufacturer left at the end. If it is only about 6" then this might be the only way to do then as in this video. But most companies I think give a few feet after the corded sleeve this means the press in cord would go after the slide in one. I would think this is the stronger and preferred way as i feel the valence should have the press in cord as it's not taking as much tension and the first one.

With the rubber piece down on the roller, you might try stretching it slightly like it when you put a screen down and it may roll in

Great Video, looking to do the same on mine and I noticed that on the front arm there is a hole to the channel for the awning on the end cap (same as on the back arm for the pull strap) so worth checking both ends. anything to save time drilling & with a file!

@slockfox
@slockfox Жыл бұрын
Thanks alot. I didnt use any screws where i drilled to holes but i have seen other videos where they put screws on each side of the valance to keep the awning from sliding back and forth. I havnt had a problem with it moving so far. Thanks for watching.

You didn’t mention the lock on one end and pinning the other end so the spring wouldn’t unwind.

@@Mytube5202 yes, you are correct. This is just how i did mine. Im not suggesting anyone copy me. You or someone else would most definitely, not want to go flip the lock switch while working on or replacing the awning.

I bought mine from www.rvawningsmart.com/ I am not affiliated with them. Seems to be a good awning so far. I believe other websites offered the same setup when i was searching for my awning. You might want to contact some of the companies first and ask them if they offer the setup your searching for. Thanks much for watching.

What kept it from retracting when you pulled it out? Did you lock it someway with the switch?
@slockfox
@slockfox 4 ай бұрын
My awning setup has a little ratcheting lever that keeps it from coiling back up. I was very aware not to bump into it and have the spring unwind. It would probably be wise to secure it somehow if there was a chance someone or something could hit the switch. cdn.shortpixel.ai/spai/q_lossy+w_839+to_webp+ret_img/roadslesstraveled.us/blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/08-721-Locking-end-of-RV-awning-min-1.jpg
