Thank you for explaining the pivot point on a speed square. I was recently trying to use it that way and knew it could, but couldn't figure out the pivot part (was looking for a hole or something to use for the pivot) Felt like a bit of a dummy and ended up doing the hard way. Lol

Very nice video that's helpful for sure on jig making, I recently have been working on a mountain wood shelf with plenty of ideas on Pinterest but with no real guidelines on the bottom board length to start out with, so my 30 degree angles turned out a little off kilter, which resulted in a lot of sanding and wood filler to make up for it, any chance you could show us how to make one of these shelves? Mine is one that has the 3 bigger mountain peaks with 2 smaller sitting in the vees on both sides, I really like your videos and look forward to more, thank you!

Been thinking of making the triangle display box for the flag that was on my dad's coffin. All that I have watched we quired a 22.5 Degree cut for the bottom corners and they were using a built jig on the fence of their table saw. Just wondering if that cut could be done on this simple jig? Would you care to do a build of the flag case using this jig with plans? My dad was killed in an auto-train accident when I was 4 months old. Mom kept the flag in her cedar chest and I dug it out the other day and want to do a case for it. Can you help me out?

@@burnstockwoodworking Mom passed in 2004 I want to pass this down to my son. Dad died when I was 4 Months old in a car-train accident (Mom never remarried) I kept most of my mom's stuff stored in bins in the basement. Went looking for the flag last week and it was actually where I thought it to be. (That never happens) This flag is 3"6" X 6"8" with 48 Stars. I found this to be an ODD size, but having the 48 stars confirmed in my mind it is the right flag that was on his casket. Dad died in 1950. Any help would be fantastic.

What scrap wood do you use for the sled?

Whatever's laying around. This particular instance was 3/4 ply and some 1 1/2" x 1" cutoff.

Please share the size of the scrap wood your using for your template. I have the angles down just need the scrap wood size, I know I said that twice. I don't want to guess at the size.
@burnstockwoodworking
@burnstockwoodworking Жыл бұрын
The ply was 17" x 17", the fencing scrap was about 13" long. Made a mark where the stop needed to be and screwed the other fence down. The plans detail the individual components for the feeder. You can use those measurements to figure out the wood needed for the jig.
