Any whole left in wood like that is best filled mostly with wood and the filler being around that to hold everything together. This way you use far less filler.
@thedoitalldad3 ай бұрын
The less filler you can get away with using the better. Also saves money 👍🏻

Very useful video and good job done. I think the Ronseal Wood Filler is quite expensive, but ideal for a small area as you show. Thanks

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah I do agree about it being expensive. But great for little areas

@thedoitalldad3 ай бұрын
There's always the chance unfortunately as there would be if you just replaced the piece of wood. You want to remove as much of the loose rotten wood as possible to prevent this

Why is the open wet rot tin standing on a wobbly surface where it could easily get knocked off?

I enjoyed your video and wish you well....but it was a wobbly surface. You did the H&S warning re goggles, gloves and smell then put the open tin in a precarious position. Aren't I a bore!

Basically the same job as a dentist does to a tooth, however the rot on the bottom corner of My shed can not be fixed this way. To fix My shed I will use a drill to remove all the rot and then after I see whats left ill I'll cut the remaining wood straight and then make a replacement section and nail it in place.
@thedoitalldad3 ай бұрын
Yeah sometimes things are too far gone..even this wouldn't be a permanent solution, more of a patch
@legobrickabrac3 ай бұрын
@@thedoitalldad Stop or reduce the moisture stops the rot however My shed is in shade half the year from September onwards and that rotten corner gets no sun and is difficult to stop it from getting wet.

Probably cost less to, I personally would not waste time with filling a huge hole I would put a bit of that filler in then push a bit of wood I cut to fill most of the space. The filler would just fill up the gaps.

I would also apply varnish so that ita cts like a weatherproof coating.

well with the way contractors are getting back to me (tiling, etc) that's a total saving of £4,000 and another days work. Yes I'm unemployed and I don't have a wife that wants a new kitchen! I swear the only reason they painted the house is the police obviously had plans on selling it....

It probably would have been cheaper, stronger, and faster to have bought one redwood board to replace the two rotted planks. The repair looks terrible. Probably should have let it dry and sanded it.
@bricktop7803 Жыл бұрын
Well yes, but the video would be boring, and people want to see a cheap and cheerful option rather than replacing a window or door frame. I would have thought that is obvious??
