1 week ago I attended the East 17 concert in Prague and I would never go to any reunion ever again tbh. Some things should stay where they are. There was only John and Terry and some other guy and I was not prepared for how it´s gonna make me feel. I sang, I danced, I had good time but damn, it was sad. As soon as I got home I started playing old music videos and listening to East 17 albums on repeat to forget this sad experience and to feel the excitement and love I felt 20 years ago again. It´s sad how it ended. I wanna keep them in my heart as those funny and energetic boys from the House of love music video.

The only person I ended up rooting for in all this was John to be honest. Seems like a nice enough guy, just wants to pay off his mortgage and make sure his family are looked after, owns his own roofing business and is prepared to work hard. Terry comes across as a workshy, just floating through life without doing any hard work type of guy, feel the same about Brian as well. Tony has made his money but seems to be unhappy and trying to recapture something, he'd be better off writing songs for other artists to sing and staying away from the performance part.

It is actually the way the music industry is structured. The most lucrative part of the whole act is the songwriting - and that remains a perennial revenue stream for the songwriter. All 4 made money off the sales but all radio royalties went to Tony since he was the sole songwriter for the music. In Take That, Gary Barlow got infinitely richer than the rest because he was the sole songwriter for all the material of 1990s Take That.

Gary walked away the richest from Take That's first chapter because he was pretty much the sole songwriter for most of their hits (songs that were NOT cover verions). Robbie's wealth stems primarily from his solo material - not with Take That (of course, his earnings from the Progress album with Take That are undoubtedly significant).

E17 was Tony's baby and he recruited the other guys at the request of the label. If you want to make decent money your name has to be on the credits. This way at the very least you'll get performance royalties everytime it's played. You'll never make a million just being a dancer/backing singer, which is why Tony had £200k in the bank and Hendy only £500. There are very occasionally exceptions who split equally regardless (such as Coldplay who make a fortune from massive tours.)

If only the chaps had met up and spent more time knowing each other and ironing out any differences. They should have used that time to sound each other out and come to some arrangements before going into any meetings with any record companies. Brian should have been given a chance to get his own music incorporated within the new catalogue after everyone's points were listened to.Each member appears to have had their own legit reasons to give it one last shot. Brian Harvey seems to be the only one who has stayed vocal and constant and is still very much in tune with with both the old and new fan base with his web presence. Always one to speak up and be quite outspoken at times, Brian Harvey can be found regularly on his KZbin channel where he is very open and honest about his personal life along with certain political and legal matters which is very enlightening and at times shocking to believe, but what he lacks in height he makes up for in evidence to validate and backup on what he brings to each KZbin video. ::Skip::

Yes, Tony was the songwriter in the 90s but this was supposed to be a new start. Why shouldn't the others have an input. This is what caused a rift in the original Take That line up...Robbie wanted to write some songs, Gary wanted to be the only one & rubbished his efforts. This is exactly that. Tony should learn to share & punching Brian wasn't a smart idea. It wasn't like they were late for the all important record company meeting just a meeting about the songs.

I still love Tony to this day. He was the backbone of East 17. The amount of pressure he was under back in the early days. And his health suffered because of it. Including his mental health. Tony was smart he invested his money wisely and did throw it away. He was allowed to be frustrated with Brian. Ok he shouldn't have hit him but it was coming for a long time. Tony had no choice but to sack him in the first place.

Brian Harvey hasn't got a filter, and has said a lot of things that people were rightly annoyed by, but remember...he was a young lad who had fame at a very young age... One of the positive things he's done is expose how unfair the music industry can be...from the biggest bands in the UK to potless in no time at all!! You can't knock his voice either...he's got a really good voice...there's probably still time for an East 17 reunion. Tony deserves to have the lions share of the cash...he was the main songwriter after all...
