The East Anglia Transport Museum held its London event and I paid my first visit on the first day to experience some tramway, trolleybus and bus action and as a bonus the weather was summer like.
It was an event to celebrate 70 years of London's last tram and 60 since the last trolleybus with vintage vehicles on display, tram, taxi and trolleybus rides around the museum site, stalls, narrow gauge railway and not forgetting some visiting vehicles and trips aboard a vintage bus to Lowestoft and Beccles. Let's not forget also the lovely ladies who sang some songs from the "good old days" many in keeping with the London theme for the day.
The trams and trolleybuses can be seen departing and giving rides throughout the museum and also the buses in action arriving and departing from the museum along Chapel Road.
There is footage of the trams in the woodland setting, the narrow gauge railway and a look at a few of the exhibits. There is much to see with old shops, displays and workshops to see as well as a gift shop and cafe. But don't just take my word for it why not check out the museum for yourself at www.eatransportmuseum.co.uk/ and you will be assured of a great day out with some very knowledgeable and enthusiastic people. If you can't make it in person why not help with a donation to help with their expansion plans for the museum.
Thanks to the staff and volunteers at the museum for their hard work in putting this event on and for making it a most enjoyable day.
