You came down here looking for warmer weather we went up your way looking for snow. This sounds like a very nice short trip for us to take once I get my husband to build our CTC - cargo trailer conversion. We live 3 hrs away and technically in the swamp. Been here 8 yrs and haven't seen an alligator yet...oh yeah, one in the Okefenokee Swamp. Friends have told us that they are usually out in the more remote areas but when it floods the swamp, we are more careful. Now snakes is a totally different story. Saw 24 of them the first year we moved down here. Not so many in the past couple years. Love your vids and your laid back style. Couldn't believe Maggie jumped into the water to get your fish. That was awesome.

The Chicken Marsala looked good. I knew you wouldn’t put Maggie in any danger of alligators. It was cute when she was going after that fish. I think you I saw you throw it back.I’m going to try that Chicken Marsala.I love it. I ate that at Olive Garden. Yep Daytona usually lacks it it in. Any sport event always packs it in. It looks like it’s a fun park to stay at. It’s raining there here it is windy and little bit of rain. Other parts of states it snowing and and ice on top if that. Not fun to drive on. Have a safe trip and stay warm. Stay safe and travel safe. See you soon.

We love love Tomoka State Park. One negative when we were there though, was the water shut down for a day due to road work somewhere (broke into the line)/ We were amused one night watching a couple try so hard to get their trailer into a site. Lots of yelling and help from neighbors. Apparently they were newbs, but it would have been hard even for the experienced. The site we had was in one of the connector roads/ Hubby fished off that bridge you went under with your kayaks. Caught a few fish. Local guy even gave him some of his own shrimp bait/ Maggie needs a hair cut desperately lol/ Broke down and ordered an ebike this week - a LIV Amiti +2. It's shaped more like a mountain bike and lighter. With the battery removed, it's about 42lbs. Hopefully light enough to lift into our Fiamma bike rack up high on our van door!/ Are you guys still in Florida??

Is your trailer light enough to “manhandle”. When I get in a tight spot I disconnect my utility trailer and position it by hand. Just watch out for even slight inclines - once a thousand pounds gets moving, it doesn’t want to stop. BTW - I grew up in S Florida doing the crazy things teenage boys do. The only alligators I worried about were gators that were being feed by people and had become habituated.

Taking a small dog on a kayak on a Florida river is really putting the dog at unnecessary risk. Being residents of Central Florida, we have been kayaking rivers in this area for years and almost every time we go we see gators, big gators. Humans and dogs in the water have been attacked...not often but it does happen. Why put the dog at risk? Why tell people it's okay? Just because it hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it isn't going to happen. We have a dog and would never even think of her being in the kayak...we love her too much.
@VANTREKKINGlifestyle3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your concern. We love our dog a lot and would never want to put her in danger either. We have never seen gators at Tomoka.

@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle From the Florida State Parks website brochure for Tomoka State Park: "During the summer, manatees take refuge with their young in the Tomoka River. Bottlenose dolphins occasionally surface, while the American alligator is a familiar resident." Once again, just because you personally have not seen them, doesn't mean they are not there. Tourists from out of state need to be aware that gators are present and not take unnecessary risk.
@hrhr6673 жыл бұрын
The worst thing you can do is take a dog in a kayak through these Florida waters. I have seen alligators jump snatching these dogs in less than seconds. You were blessed that this did not happen to you especially when the dog jumped into the water. Please be careful that this does not happen again, sorry just being concern.

We appreciate your concern, we will be very careful. Most of the time we don’t take Maggie.

We really do appreciate your concern. We do try to be careful where we take Maggie, we did not anticipate jumping in the water. Thanks again.
